Bought the Dylan Mojo w/ the covers CD, Uncut with the Highway 61 Revisited Revisited tribute CD

I need to get this. Did y'all see the NYTimes story about the Dylan stuff coming out this week. I didn't know the Scorsese documentary was going to be on American Masters (airing Sept. 26 and 27 on PBS). I've been looking forward to it but I'm glad I don't have to go buy it.

I can't think of anything funnier than Search for Bach for a thread name.

Oh and I dated a guy for 11 years and as weird as it was saying "boyfriend" as a 27 year old who had lived with the same guy for 8 years, I NEVER used "partner." Not a fan of that term.

erikaj/Other Homicide fans - hope you are still reading this thread. I talked to Andre Brauer briefly at the Shedd Aquarium (in Chicago) this weekend. I was watching the otters and moved out of the way for his child/grandchild/friend's child (?) and we talked about how cute they were (otters and children). He has grey hair now and looks even more distinguished than usual.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Pitchfork and Peanuts - ganked from Datapanik's LJ.

David, Annie Ross was on Fresh Air last Friday (I think.) I'd link to it but am having trouble getting into the site. Thought you might be interested.

Cool! Thanks - yeah, I'm a fan of Annie. Also she's had a really interestiong life.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

I wonder if Combustible Edison has officially disbanded?

Effectively, they have. Michael's been living in L.A. for a few years now. Last I heard from him, he had a couple of band projects going on, and none of them were Combustible Edison.

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

I'm up to season three of Homicide. It's not as good as The Wire, but not much is.

I have to confess, I've never seen it (my mom loves it though). I recognized him from various TV things and his great role in the horrible movie, Duets.

I didn't want to be all "you're a movie star!!" while he was with his family, but if I had, I would have told him he sings a beautiful version of "Freebird."

He's a bad-ass actor. I'm surprised he hasn't been in more things.

By your aesthetic criteria (not just your gut favorites) what makes your Best List, Corwood?

The Wire
The Office

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

I'd like to say Woody Strode, but unfortunately I look more like Strother Martin.

Wait, wouldn't that make your "partner" L.Q. Jones rather than Jack Elam?

Always Anti-fascist!

No.(And it causes me physical fucking injury, um, okay, *another* one, to admit that of a series with FrankenTim, the Munchkin, and Kay in it.) But it it totally true...broader canvas. Politics...no black-hat bad guys. Very little censoring...what are they gonna do next year, with the FCC sure to get a hard-on for them? So to speak. In cop talk, if you attack somebody personally like they might, you have a hard-on for them if you make busting them your mission. Very jealous of the Braugher encounter, but I would think I would say something smart and probably look like a dumbass. To meet the new language standards, Jimmy goes aphasic. I saw DW in something PG-13 once and it felt like that anyways without "Fuck *me*" and stuff. They did have a whole scene composed of "Fuck." and "Motherfucker" once. Because Simon's idol on BPD said one day cops will have their own language of just those words.
