Well, there are still roughly a berjillion trip hop/electronica collections of bossa nova with a contemporary beat I know this because I bought one recently after JZ heard it at the circus. So I think that kind of music is still out there, but it's being marketed differently. I wonder if Combustible Edison has officially disbanded?

It took me a while to get used to saying "wife," but, like Joe, I deeply prefer it to "partner," which, with my accent, sounds like she ought to be played by Jack Elam.

The cutest thing at my friend H's wedding reception was him saying "Excuse me, I have to go find my *WIIIFE*." Especially since his mostly-gone southern accent reasserted itself more and more over the course of the sentence. Nine years and two kids later for them, and I can still see his big goofy smile.

I think I've seen less of the missus in the last month than in any time since we met. She's been on the road; I've been working OT.

Still swamped here, but the database I need is down so I'll give a quick update. Bought the Dylan Mojo w/ the covers CD, Uncut with the Highway 61 Revisited Revisited tribute CD and 100 rock icons on 100 pop culture icons (Uncut's list, their comments), and Jazz Times "50 LPs from 35 Years of JazzTimes" issue. No CD with the last one.

Not sure if the Mojo CD is really better than the Uncut one or if the latter just seems lamer because the original is so damned good. Nothing on either one knocked me out, but I haven't listened to them enough to get past the initial "it doesn't measure up" reaction. Fun stuff in each mag, though, so I take the CDs for what they are: bonuses.
