I got my first pair (age 10) around Christmastime, and individual lights on trees was a MASSIVE revelation.

aw, I remember any time I got a new prescription for my glasses how amazingly sharp the focus it was ... I'd go from squinting to try to see something to wow! look at the leaves! and so on
There are videos around of people who are color blind wearing glasses that (somehow) allow them to see color. They're always amazed at what the colors they've been hearing about actually look like.

This was how I discovered I needed glasses at age 10 - screwing around with my stepbrother's glasses and suddenly I could see the individual leaves on the shrubs across the backyard!
