Sooner or later, you're gonna want it. And the second — the second — that happens, you know I'll be there. I'll slip in, have myself a real good day.

Oh, Dannemora, Lennie Briscoe's favorite threat.(sniff. Taking a moment, and we're done.) Although that may be for mental patients... Rule number one: If you must kill someone, never tell anyone you sleep with. CSI aside, the most effective forensic tool is a pissed-off ex-girlfriend.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Did they show the trailers and everything?

Yes! In HD, even.

That is hilarious, Dawn. My sister was at Humboldt some of the time that I was at Chico, but I don't think she ever got that advice.

Those are definitely the rules in real life. In real life you don't get a sentence solely based on the other guy's word.

Though you can totally get a sentence almost solely based on your own word. Even if you didn't do it.

Lawyer up, people. False confession makes the Baby Jesus cry.

Always Anti-fascist!

Be specific, too. "I want to get a lawyer, right now." Because otherwise they can say your intent wasn't clear.

giraffe mode

Chico = Party school
Humboldt = Stoner school

This? SO true! Except I was so poor that I could barely afford milk and the $0.25 donuts in the study room in the Wildlife Dept. So sad. I remember being so thankful that my mom sent me $10 so I could go to McDonalds!

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Does anyone know if I want to make my 401K plan contributions on a pre-tax basis or a Roth basis?

Does anyone know if I want to make my 401K plan contributions on a pre-tax basis or a Roth basis?

Does it make a difference for company matching purposes?

The argument for pre-tax is that your income bracket (and therefore taxes) are lower in retirement.

However, IMO, it is very likely that tax brackets will have to rise in the future so I wouldn't bet on your bracket being lower. Also, even though you pay taxes now, the Roth grows tax free, so you are paying taxes on $5000 now, but not $50,000 (or whatever) later.

That being said, I have a regular 401K because that's what my firm matches and I can't contribute more than the match right now. When I can though? I will put the extra over the match into a ROTH.

ETA: Personally, I might do 1/2 one, 1/2 the other.

Go Roth. Choose Roth. If you take money out of a Roth before retirement, you're only penalized on the interest. The argument behind pre-tax is that you'll be in a lower tax bracket when you start withdrawing money, but that's often not the case.
