With the help of context and explanation and longterm familiarity with Buffistadom it's fine, really, but for new people interested in the site it is unwelcoming. Might as well say: poor, perverted, annoying people you're not one of us! I was hoping for a more friendly title, maybe for the next thread?

Buffy and Angel are huge in the UK, Australia and Europe (birthplace of vampires) there could be many more people on this thread. IJS.

There's no way to calculate how many people came, looked, and left because they were turned off by the title. So far, though, this board (and sometimes this thread) has one of the most international mixes of a board grown out of a US concern that I've ever seen.

I don't know where new users come from (for those who came outside of the Firefly Influx of 2002). I have no idea how an unAmerican finds this place, and how clear it is (title notwithstanding) that there's potential for ME discussion that's not timed to the N American schedule.

A few "in my case" answers, just in case you're intrested: I came here by accident, from various links in the internet fandom at large. I hit the page- links page first, I think- several times before I actually realised it might be of intrest to me. I'm guessing that most unAmericans find this place roughly the same way Americans do. I didn't have the (American) background to the thread, but it was clear that- unlike the other boards I've visited- people who weren't part of the American cliche were a bit more accomodated than the occassional 'spoiler free thread'.

International mix is good. For a vampire based story I'd love to hear the central European take on it all. Perhaps I came across to harshly when I said "offensive" I think maybe the word I needed was "ambiguous" non-native English speakers and people like me who are native, native English speakers but don't have access to all the cultural references won't necessarily read the same. Anya was being snarky when she said it after all.

I'm worried about rumours that Angel is going to end after this season cos I don't know how I'll live without my weekly dose. The more popular the boards are the more support there is for the show, and the safer S5 is.

A Scot! I grew up in Scotland, Zoe. I even went to school near Edinburgh for a couple of years. (I live in Germany now, though).

(FTR, I love the UnAmerican name, although I've never been wild about the Anya quote.)

I know one person who fled this page because of the thread titles, but that was because she thought we were trashing the shows since the titles were humorous and mocking. I could understand someone reading it and being offended, but if they took the time to read the thread, they'd get that the title wasn't really indicative...hmm, this is reminding me about that whole thing about people who won't watch BtVS because they can't get past the title.

Actually, the title could seem confusing, since there are a lot of people living in America who now define themselves as un-American - in fact I often refer to myself as a member of the axle of evil. Or one could even interpret the "all ogle - no cash" as this being the thread for links to free porn.
