We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Can Cassidy go all Goth and tragic now that he has reason to handstapleforehead? Goth Beaver would rock.

I vote yes. The 09ers could use some goth.

I knew in the karoake scene that I was supposed to know who that was, and I knew just as surely the hivemind would provide. I like the Dandy Warhols a lot - The OC's use of "We Used to be Friends" is one of my favorite moments from the show evah, may it rest in peace - but the cameo was a bit awkward.

When the nurse looked at Logan and said, "Oh, I'm sorry, did that sting?" I actually yelled "Woobie!" at the screen, to the great amusement of Calli and amyth. I think Logan may be My First Woobie.

ION, Hi Ellen! and I really need to finish packing, since I'm leaving for the airport in 1.5 hrs.

I am not a big Dandy Warhols fan - but I agree with all of these words a lot.

I don't think Alicia has a dark past in that she is an an actual bad guy - I'm predicting the "had to leave everything to run from something/someone scary to save Wallace" scenario.

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

I got way too much of the Dandy Warhols in DiG!, but I liked the use of Spoon's "I Turn My Camera On" while Veronica was following Cordelia.

In other news: Hi, Ellen! I'm the artist formerly known as Hayden.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

yeah. RT said that in an interview with marsinvestigations.net.

From here:

spacecitymarc: You said they're playing the homecoming dance. Are there any plans to do something like Buffy did or The O.C. does, with bringing bands in constantly?

Rob: Yeah, we do have a plan. And it's a strange plan, and we've shot our first one and it worked so beautifully that we hope we're gonna do it all year. The plan is to do it all year. You know how Veronica sang karaoke last year? Well, she's now working at that coffee shop as the season begins, and what we're going to have are karaoke nights every few episodes. Like, in episode 3, you're gonna see Courtney Taylor-Taylor. The lead singer of the Dandy Warhols comes on and sings karaoke, "Love Hurts" by Nazareth. And it's amazing. It's so cool. And we don't say, "It's Courtney Taylor-Taylor of the Dandy Warhols," we just say, "Hey, Courtney, come up, it's your turn to sing karaoke." And so we're gonna do that all year. Britt Daniels of Spoon has already volunteered to come and do it. So we're going to do these karaoke things where we won't identify them as the famous person they are. If you happen to know what the lead singer of Dandy Warhols looks like, then you'll get it. Otherwise, I'm sure it'll be something that'll be up on all the boards later. But they're not going to sing their own hit songs. They're gonna do karaoke, so it'll be some rock standard that they're doing. And then, sort of in conjunction with that, Courtney Taylor-Taylor does the karaoke sing where he sings "Love Hurts," and then later in the episode we gave great play to "Smoke It," which is the new single off their new record. So everybody is happy that way.

I really like the idea, but the execution could be a bit better, so far. I hope it's less conspicuous next time.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

just saw. that was fun . so many things flying in from so many directions. wheeeee. I even forgot about the odd karaoke scene. I don't have anyreal insight... but the logan/duncan scene clearly put VM on the outside of thier relationship. It was Nice. In the future , who will be loyal to whom

Trust my rage

I thought the karaoke scene was nicely done, and sounded great, but it was sort of out of place. Like, "Here we have a little musical bit. And now, back to your previously scheduled story."

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

How would you compare the karaoke bit in last episode and they plans they have with future episodes with the way bands were used in early seasons of Buffy? A couple of reporters mentioned years ago that they really liked they way Buffy featured cool bands.

Intersting point. I was thinking at first you meant Oz's band, but I'm guessing you are refering to the people we saw performing at the Bronze, etc. I think in Buffy, the band was always singing and then the camera shifted to our characters.

In VM this week, one guy sang karaoke, looked at some girl (not sure who she was), then another guy got up, sang really well, and the first guy looked pissed that his girl was more impressed with the second singer than with him. It was just long enough to make me think "who are these people? Did I miss something? Is this a new development in the story?" I would have liked the scene *much* better if they had left out guy #1 and his girlfriend and just had the singer singing "Love Hurts."
