oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

just saw. that was fun . so many things flying in from so many directions. wheeeee. I even forgot about the odd karaoke scene. I don't have anyreal insight... but the logan/duncan scene clearly put VM on the outside of thier relationship. It was Nice. In the future , who will be loyal to whom

I thought the karaoke scene was nicely done, and sounded great, but it was sort of out of place. Like, "Here we have a little musical bit. And now, back to your previously scheduled story."

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

How would you compare the karaoke bit in last episode and they plans they have with future episodes with the way bands were used in early seasons of Buffy? A couple of reporters mentioned years ago that they really liked they way Buffy featured cool bands.

Intersting point. I was thinking at first you meant Oz's band, but I'm guessing you are refering to the people we saw performing at the Bronze, etc. I think in Buffy, the band was always singing and then the camera shifted to our characters.

In VM this week, one guy sang karaoke, looked at some girl (not sure who she was), then another guy got up, sang really well, and the first guy looked pissed that his girl was more impressed with the second singer than with him. It was just long enough to make me think "who are these people? Did I miss something? Is this a new development in the story?" I would have liked the scene *much* better if they had left out guy #1 and his girlfriend and just had the singer singing "Love Hurts."

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

To me it feels like they're cutting out plot and replacing it with a commercial for an artist. Unless it turns out that one of the barristas can read people's emotions while they're singing. Then it might be okay.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

The whole karaoke sequence was an allusion to the Duncan/Veronica/Logan triangle. The first guy with his happy romanticism represented Duncan, and then Courtney comes in with the angsty Logan side of LoVe love.

That makes a bit more sense. It still just seemed odd to me, although I only waste this much thought on shows I really like.

Not to me. That would be even worse than just putting it in there to plug tha artist.

But DX, they're not really "plugging" the artist. I mean, they don't even identify who he is. This isn't "Cibo Matto? I love Cibo Matto? Let's all go see Cibo Matto!"

What is even happening?

Cibo Matto clog dances?
