The Omaha Record is the one you want, Tina.

Excellent. I liked the song you played by them lots. (Though it's not on that album, clearly).

Downloading now.

::hugs emusic::

Speaking of Omaha, anyone else here love Visqueen?

I don't love them - but I've heard of them. Aren't they from Seattle/Northwest or am I thinking of another band? Is there an Omaha connection or are you being purposefuly random?

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Yeah, they're from Seattle. And they have a song called "Omaha" with the line "we're mutual like Omaha" that every single review quotes.

That's actually pretty funny. I would quote that. Now I want to hear it.

:: bets self $10 that emusic has it::

:: checks::

Damn! They have one of their albums (with "Houston" and "Manhattan" on it but no "Omaha"). I now owe myself $10.

Hey! I forgot one of these Bottom of the Hudson songs is from your Best of 2003 mix, Jon. Huh.

What a ton of non-substantive things I have posted today. Em....I promise to stop because it's beer-with-co-workers-then-goin-home time. If anyone is in a music store this weekend and remembers, check if you see a CD (any) from a band called Les Breastfeeders. They're from Canada, and I can't find them here or online. If you feel inclined to buy, I'd appreciate it but you could just let me know where you see them and I can contact them myself.

Yeah, that's the new one, and it's also really good. It's different from the first one; there's more focus on lyrical content, and it's a little less frenetic. "Houston" is very nice, and if you want to try out a few tracks, I also recommend "Beauty Deluxe" and "A Viewing." I also think music aficionados would appreciate "Crush on Radio."

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

a band called Les Breastfeeders.

They're great. French Canadian Garage Punk. WMBR has played them lots. Some mp3's, and a link to buy their CD, is here: [link]

Are you ready to be strong?

with a gleam in my eye, and an almost airtight alibi

I had not known that your show was Podcasted, Jon! Now I gotta get on that crazy podcast train!!

Andrew Bird shows up on a bunch of Chicago alt-country stuff other than his own -- he plays on the Handsome Family's "Up Falling Rock Hill," and his violin playing totally makes the song.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

I'd like to apologize for the high-pitched "SQUUUEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" that some of you may have sensed. Bauhaus are re-forming. A new album and world tour are planned for next year.

In related news, I just ripped the David J collection with the old V for Vendetta stuff on it for you. It'll be included with the Glam, Neo-Glam and Dark Cabaret stuff (with Hannah Fury).

A co-worker gave me half the album and I desperately want the other half. Thanks, Jon.

I am enjoying the The Swimming Hour and this weekend I heard a lot of guys who went to highschool with him talking about what a band nerd he used to be but how all along they kind of knew he was going to be a rock star, albeit a bit of an eccentric one.
