Y'all see the man hanging out of the spaceship with the really big gun? Now I'm not saying you weren't easy to find. It was kinda out of our way, and he didn't want to come in the first place. Man's lookin' to kill some folk. So really it's his will y'all should worry about thwarting.

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

And CURSE YOU MEARA! Because of you, I've been earwormed with "I believe in a Thing Called Love" all morning

I'm now earwormed with:

You don't believe that this whole universe
Could be inside your little sister's purse
You don't believe you're just a living glob
Like Lucy, Freddie, Ricky. Frank and Bob

Thanks, Hec.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Yeah. I'm sure they MEANT the Old West. I just thought that lynchings and justice aren't really two things I want to equate. No matter the time period.

Since I looked up lynching statistics not too long ago, I remember being surprised seeing that more whites than blacks had been lynched in Texas. Kind of a horse thief deal out thataway.

Uncertainty could be our guiding light.

One more time for the lame-o that is me. May I please have the link for the bookmarked liner notes? I promise to mark it for myself this time. Thank you!

A fellow makes himself conspicuous when he throws soft-boiled eggs at the electric fan.

I am a swoony fangirl right now because the Famous Musician that I recruited to write word notes for a project has just turned them in, and they are BRILLIANT. And funny. And poignant. And acerbic. And wide-ranging.

Yay!

Jon - can you add mine?

They're here.

Thanks.

Lyra Jane - Man do I love your local artist song. Mmm. Angry.

Speaking of Ian - he was interviewed on Morning Edition today for a story about Jenny Toomey. Read and listen here.

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

Pretty simple equations, though. Vigilante justice = never a good thing outside of fiction. Lynching in the South = usually associated with race murder, although perhaps Willie & Toby were lamenting their inability to string horse thieves up. Either way, given the timing of the song, I took it as unadulterated support of our Bozo-in-Chief's decision to invade Iraq. Personally, I just hate to hear Austin's own longhaired, pot-smoking elder statesman of cosmic cowboyhood espouse a pro-war/anti-social justice philosophy.

My liner notes and a downloadable jpg of my inserts are available on my new, upgraded website: [link]

The generation that could change the world is still looking for its car keys.

Listening to the new Al Green disc, his first album of secular music in years. Holy shit, The Reverend is still fantastic. Makes your butter melt.
