I happen to be very biteable, pal. I'm moist and delicious.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Now Playing: Corwood's Beat Happening mix he made for me yonks ago.

I'm feeling very indie rock/pop right now.

In fact, I'm trying to make a definitive (for me) mix of the genre and realizing that it's sort of impossible because it's too vast. I keep wanting to slip in stuff as early as "Lee Remick" (or "Karen" - shush, Jon) by The Go-Betweens, or "Rolling Moon" by The Chills, even though most of this stuff is really early to mid Nineties. Also, I'm suddenly regretting selling that Field Mice collection since this seems to need something from Sarah Records. (Ouch - I can feel Jim rolling his eyes from here.)

Oh well, I've got Pastels and (early, Claudia singing) Magnetic Fields and Tallulah Gosh and Vaselines and Ophelia Tremor Control and Velocity Girl and Chris Knox and Television Personalities and Tullycraft and Bartlebees and Beat Happening and Sebadoh on it.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

and (early, Claudia singing) Magnetic Fields

Sure you don't mean Susan Anway? She sang on the first one or two albums (most notably on 100,000 Fireflies).

You're right. That being the very song I'm including.

What do you think, Jon? Can you fairly compress it down to 72 minutes?

Shit, you've already done that much on a skim across NZ, much less K Records or Elephant 6 or Fort Apache or Sarah.

::sigh::

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Did you get in Jilli? I can email you the password if you need. I just added three extra songs for you under the heading "Gender Bending."

Nope. I emailed the buffistarawk addy, but no reply.

The generation that could change the world is still looking for its car keys.

On it's way to you now, Jilli. Don't forget to check out the other labels on there. I put a bunch of SRC stuff up, which you probably already have . . . . But maybe not the videos?

Ficht nicht mit Der Raketemensch!

You need to add Velocity Girl by the Primal Scream. And I Know Someone Who Knows Someone Who Knows Alan McGee Quite Well (that's the Pooh Sticks single, not a boast, although I do in fact know someone who knows someone who knows Alan McGee quite well). Have you got the Rough Trade Indie Pop compilation, Hec?

Not the sort of music we usually talk about, but the BBC is offering free MP3 downloads of Beethoven's Symphonies 1-5 here. Symphonies 6-9 will follow in early July.

No, I could not.

Yea on Pooh Sticks. Nay on Primal Scream (never "got" them).

"You see? THAT's what they want. Love, and a bit with a dog."

Hec, if you want I should make you a copy of the Polaris disc to feed your indie craving, let me know. It's no problem.

brillig

So, I've just bought a ticket to the Van's Warped Tour (see tagline). I've never been to a rock concert, much less an all-day, multi-stage thing. Aside from my expectations of squeeing like a pathetic fangurl when I see Billy, what can I do to not look like a total git? What are these things like?
