You need to add Velocity Girl by the Primal Scream. And I Know Someone Who Knows Someone Who Knows Alan McGee Quite Well (that's the Pooh Sticks single, not a boast, although I do in fact know someone who knows someone who knows Alan McGee quite well). Have you got the Rough Trade Indie Pop compilation, Hec?
Buffista Music II: Wrath of Chaka Khan
There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.
Not the sort of music we usually talk about, but the BBC is offering free MP3 downloads of Beethoven's Symphonies 1-5 here. Symphonies 6-9 will follow in early July.
What do you think, Jon? Can you fairly compress it down to 72 minutes?
No, I could not.
Yea on Pooh Sticks. Nay on Primal Scream (never "got" them).
Hec, if you want I should make you a copy of the Polaris disc to feed your indie craving, let me know. It's no problem.
So, I've just bought a ticket to the Van's Warped Tour (see tagline). I've never been to a rock concert, much less an all-day, multi-stage thing. Aside from my expectations of squeeing like a pathetic fangurl when I see Billy, what can I do to not look like a total git? What are these things like?
Wear comfortable shoes, Connie, as you may be on your feet for a long time. Don't be afraid to talk excitedly with other fans when you bump into them. people like sharing pre-show "first cd I bought/First concert I went to" stories. There WILL be people your age there, so don't feel out of place. The important thing is to jump and scream and have fun.
I've never been to a rock concert
Wait, uh . . . . Oh, yeah, you're from Provo. Never mind.
Oh, yeah, you're from Provo
I *live* in Provo. I'm *from* the hills of Southwestern Pennsylvania. Equally backwards, but I find it less of a cultural burden.
Eh. If Syd were reuniting with them, that would be news.
