Don't be afraid to talk excitedly with other fans when you bump into them. people like sharing pre-show "first cd I bought/First concert I went to" stories. There WILL be people your age there, so don't feel out of place. The important thing is to jump and scream and have fun.

Connie, comfortable shoes are good advice. Also, remember there probably won't be much shade, so wear sunscreen and a hat and hydrate as appropriate. Oh, and I'm not sure how much people mosh (slam-dance) anymore, but if you notice bunches of adolescent men bumping into each other near the stage, steer clear.

My good internet friend andypop was struck by a motorbike when leaving a club show in London last night. He was taken into intensive care at the Royal London Hospital in White Chapel.

I never met Andy in person, but I had hoped to one day. He was a passionate music fan, committed to liberal/radical politics, and a participant in the early 90's underground/activist punk scene that also yielded bands like Bikini Kill and Huggy Bear (he played guitar for Linus, for the record). I traded funny stories and memories with him -- favorite bands and music scenes and such -- through Livejournal. (My favorite was a discussion of a great UK indiepop band, Wimpy Milkshake. Andy told me a funny story of being in the audience for the band's first live performance -- in a biker bar, of all places!)

Hell, no! Last week I accepted the job that I had previously requested ma for (another beneficiary of the scary power of buffista-ma thanks you) and after we were squared away on salary, benefits, hands had been shaken, W-4s filled out, I said..."There's just one more thing....I have to take a week off in Sept. and I know I tech. won't have a week of vacation by then." My new boss cut me off - "No problem." I heart my new job.

Except that it leaves me with far less interbunny time.

In heavy rotation at the moment: new White Stripes (good, but not Elephant good), Red House Painters, Songs for a Blue Guitar (I just got a copy of it after not having it for while, man is it good).

I am coming off a major obsession with the entire Bright Eyes catalog. It's suprisingly strong. A really really good CD I discovered in my obsessing is called Home Vol. 4 and it is Britt Daniels (Spoon) and Connor Oberst (Bright Eyes) together.

I am gonna e-mail my favorite song from that and this freaking amazing cover of the Flaming Lips' "Waiting for a Superman" done by Iron and Wine on Morning Becomes Eclectic (got it off of Sounds Eclectic Vol. 3) to buffistarawk g mail just for fun.
