This is my boat. They're part of my crew. No one's getting left. Best you get used to that.

Buffista Music II: Wrath of Chaka Khan

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

We didn't go this time, but I've been to the Saturn Bar before. When I walked in they had Johnny Guitar on the TV and Johnny Cash playing on the jukebox.

Excellent! Hope you had a blast!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Excellent! Hope you had a blast!

Did indeed. Saw these good folks at The Spotted Cat on Frenchman...

Jeremy Lyons and The Deltabilly Boys. Smokin' hot on the national steel with resonator. Also covered "Ring of Fire" for a dandy singalong.

and...

New Orleans Jazz Vipers - if you like the mix of gypsy django jazz and early jazz in Triplets of Belleville you'd probably like this group. Not your usual moldy Dixieland by any means.

Also, while I was there I met a guy at a used clothing store (he spotted my Amoeba bag) who was a ukelele player and an expert on Cliff Edwards (aka, the voice of Jiminy Cricket and one of the biggest acts in Vaudeville's heydey). We had a cool discussion about 20s jazz and crooners and suchlike.

Doh! I totally forgot to give the CDs to Anne, even though I saw her a bunch this weekend.

Ah well. Excuse to go check out this embroidery store she keeps talking about near her, maybe?

Sounds bad-ass, David.

Hey, Gandalfe:

I have that random mix CD of Hayden's all ready to send back to you, but....I can't make out the return address on the envelope. Can you e-mail my profile addy with your address?

DXMachina - May 26, 2004 3:07:10 pm PDT #2768 of 10003
You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Should I send the original back to Gandalfe, then? Instead of forward to DX, since it's not part of the Buffista Mix Chain O' Love?

Steph, I already have a copy of the mix, thanks to Hayden. Also, that's where I got "Pete Rose Affinity" for my mix.

Good thing, DX, since I only gave you the one CD at the F2F! (Please tell me you still have it....)

Should I lie to you?

Uh-oh. Glad I didn't give you anything like a human heart. (Because, you know, you need to hang on to those.)
