Okay, I'd never read the movie this way:
Whedon fashions a story line that slyly mirrors his own efforts to keep his short-lived show Firefly alive. Serenity focuses on the struggles of a ragtag band of outsiders trying desperately to get a high-tech videotape played on intergalactic television. The Alliance will do anything to keep it off the air, including murdering the only independent broadcaster in the 'verse. The film, right down to the tagline ("You can't stop the signal"), is one big middle finger to Fox TV executives.
Village Voice review.
You didn't? It's one of the things I found most hilarious. Like, Mal needs to put the Signal out on the internet so people will pass the word and see the mpeg of truth.
The only thing that was missing was the crazy chicks with the intergalactic variety ad.
YOU CANT STOP THE ANVIL.
Never occurred to me. I am trusting, I suppose.
In fact, I was surprised to see "You can't stop the signal"
in
the movie. A little more time, and I
might
have worked it out myself. But I'm way too emotionally involved with the surface of the movie to mess it up by getting meta.
I didn't see it that way either, for what it's worth.
It's why I think random webmaster dude got buried with the two main character people. The webmaster is like, the big hero. With the server on that catwalk from Empire.
Hey ita, is that where our server is? Can I have the password so I never have to do battle in case I need to upload a file?
According to Uncle Joss(tm)(c)(r), Mr Universe ISN'T an internet blogger. I've got him on record about that. He said, in fact, he was a plot device for moving the Reaver battleground. I don't know if that explaination is better..
That said, I'd yes it's 99.999999999999999999999% probable Mr. Universe BECAME Internet bloggers etc during marketing.
Never occurred to me. I am trusting, I suppose.
It's the magic in your heart.

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
That's hilarious.
Hey, just because that's not what he was thinking, doesn't mean it's not true.
Hell, I wrote a play which was done in readings twice before I figured out it was about my marriage breaking up. Once I saw it, it totally was, but it never entered my mind for a second while I was writing.
