Thanks Nilly. I know the time difference makes for odd posting schedules.
I love that unspoken glance moment. Also, ASH's counterpointed "What can't we face?" is a thing of beauty.

This is where we talk about Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No spoilers though?if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it. This thread is NO LONGER NAFDA. Please don't discuss current Angel events here.

This post was in no way reflective of any content posted on buffistas.org, and in fact, was a good reminder of the fact that when I stray from buffistas.org, I should be very careful where I step.

Oh, Cindy. We've warned you about that.
(hands Cindy some ice for her head)
Stay here with us, dearest. We're so much less thunky.

Sure, give me ice - go grey. Good thing I have so much LJing to catch up on.

Yeah, I belong in the dark, with you.
See - it's dangerous to empower all those women, because what if some of them are bad?
wait, whaaa?
THAT'S what you're reading out in other bad places?

Yeah. What if one of them used the power to hit their little sister or something?
Can't be empowering a bunch o' dem bad gals, don'tcha know.
*eyes roll right out of head*

Not that this isn't an interesting question. What if while they are going around finding all the newly empowered slayers (typed slyers first, heh), they find Faith v.2.0/ Or worse? Leads to some interesting dillemas and all. And sorry for letting the bunnies out.
Somehow I think that's not exactly what Cindy has been reading "out there".
ETA and just confirmed by Cindy. Wow, how...banal an interpretation.
Well Ken, you're approaching it as an interesting plot point with potential I think, not as an argument for not empowering the slayers (which this person seemed to be), to which I responded:
You sound like someone who doesn't think everyone should have the right of free speech or freedom of religion, because they might misuse it. Of course some empowered slayers are not going to join the fight, and some will use their strength towards bad ends. To me, that in no way justifies the archaic, misogynistic system the Shadow men put in place - their virgin sacrifice to save their sorry tushes from the demons.
With great power comes great responsibility, and some won't be up for it. But this has always been a story about how in the end, the fate of the world rests on those good people who care enough to keep fighting for what's right.
There could be no "perfect" solution, but there could and was a solution in which they weren't trying to fight evil with evil, but instead, with good.
*burns bra*
I think part of the selection process for slayers is that they tend not to use their power for evil. Faith did not start out as an evil slayer. (OK she was into vandalism and theft - See Want Take - though I get the feeling that even this only happened after the death of her watcher.)
