We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

No whitefont seemed fine in the experiment thread, really. I was just trying to make it PERFECT. For me.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Can we have the whitefont or no whitefont as a secondary question on the vote? I'm personally fine with it either way.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

I actually like being spoiled for the eliminees in competitions, at least. I don't always TiVo them, so having somwhere to go to find out who got bumped is a benefit. The finales, NSM, those I'd like white-fonted. Otherwise, I don't think we really need WF for the thread. So many of these shows are repeated frequently to the point where who even knows when the first airing was? I'm talking Deadliest Catch and stuff like that. Those shows are just fun to say, WTF did you see that? Man Vs. Wild? Egad!

Yes. I don't think whitefront rules for Nonfic and rules for Drama/Comedy should be the same; the two threads obviously functioned differently. So in the final proposal-to-vote, there should be options for:

NAFDA
24 hour whitefront
72 hour whitefront

I think anything longer than 72 hours would be ridiculous for a nonfic thread.

Does that work?

Also, just to be clear--we want this to be a non-fiction thread and not a reality show thread, yes? I think it's imporant to make the distinction here, because they very well could be two kinds of bucket threads, and I'm wondering whether people want two bucket threads--one for reality television, and one for other kinds of non-fiction such as Ghost Hunters, mythbusters, documentaries, news programs, NOVA, Mr Rogers, whatever.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Good point, SA. I'd prefer to have them together, for purposes of cross-polination. But I suspect the "other non-fiction" is more of a loss for Natter, so I dunno.

I'd prefer non-fiction over reality tv as the thread topic. I think a broader topic would be worth it to see that the thread is well used.

Oh yes. I want the thread to still contain Dirty Jobs, Deadliest Catch, and Modern Marvels talk, as well as anything else that might crop up.

Well, I ask because of the points ND brought up before in this discussion, and I want to accomodate his perspective because it stuck with me. I'll go either way and be happy with it, but it's noteworthy.

SA, I think the vote should have three parts so that people get a fairer say. Otherwise the vote could be more for NAFDA than either of the other two options, but the other two options (which are both for some sort of whitefont) would be more combined than NAFDA alone. Maybe something like below?

1.) Do you want the thread? yes no don't care

2.)If the answer to 1 is yes, do you want white font? yes no don't care

3.)If the answer to 3 is yes, how long to you want white font for? 24 hours 72 hours

Only, you know, worded prettier.
