We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Yeah, I would definitely prefer it be pay(extra)-to-play channels, if it has to exist at all. To me a cable thread is a general tv thread. I didn't even get locals for years. Plus, an HBO/Showtime thread might have an easier time of it without whitefont where an all-cable thread might be more difficult to manage.

I'm able to use the current Boxed Set, but I don't watch the current Stargates anymore, and I probably won't. I avoided the thread altogether back when I was just behind on the Stargates instead. It was unwieldy to me.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Yeah, I regularly subscribe and unsubscribe from Boxed Set, depending on which cycle Sci-Fi is in.

Just for the record in this thread -- as someone who posts regularly in Movies, where the Deadwood talk has congregated, while it's occasionally mildly annoying (like, on the level of spilling a few drops of milk on the floor, or less), I am perfectly fine with it continuing in Movies.

If I want to gush over House, would that be in the TV thread?

edit: would that be where all the Project Runway talk would go?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Not if it's a Showtime/HBO thread.

Which I think it should be. It would be a low-traffic thread, in theory, but I think those channels have shows that could support some meaty discussion. Not that I watch any of them myself.

Yeah, I think this thread proposal is trying to avoid the general TV hoopla by being specifically an HBO/Showtime show thread.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

All I see is Deadwood discussion; are there other homeless HBO/Showtime discussions?

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

All I see is Deadwood discussion; are there other homeless HBO/Showtime discussions?

I keep going back and forth on whether I think the new thread is a good idea, but I do have to say, the first part seems to be true which means I'd say the answer to the second part is "no".

Whether there would be more discussion of other shows if the thread existed, I have no idea. The only other HBO show I'm currently inolved with is Entourage, and that's been a very casual involvement and one I feel no burning need to post about ( the memorable recent appearences by Seth Green notwithstanding).

I imagine there will be Wire discussion when that starts up again next month.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

HBO is a little different, since you either have it or you don't, but I wouldn't be watching Project Runway, Grey's Anatomy, or eagerly anticipating picking up the Slings and Arrows DVDs if they hadn't been popping up in non-dedicated threads. On that basis if nothing else, if we did decide to go this route, I'd prefer it to be a very strictly defined thread.
