Voting Discussion: We're Screwing In Light Bulbs AIFG!
We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!
I think the reason it's been worded as it has is because there have been quite a few full on spoiler people who want no whitefont, fewer spoiler lite people speaking up, and the fact that LeNubian is a full-on spoiler person, and is proposing what will make the proposer happiest, while also trying to accomodate other people, which is very cool, really, and one of the things I like best about us (though it sometimes seems to cause the biggest problems), that we try to take care of everyone.
I think, if the all-white font thread with heavier, albeit whitefont, spoils passes, it will end up with a different community and the people who lost the lite thread will still be without a thread. That doesn't mean it won't serve more people, just different ones.
Here's the thing...the spoiler thread currently is white fonted with labels. So if the majority vote is no for item 1....the thread will stay as is.
Wolfram,
I took out the mixed bag suggestion precisely because I heard people say they didn't want hardcore spoilers in Lite.
Do you want me to take out the white font option altogether? The spoiler people feel VERY strongly that no white font should be in hardcore spoilers.
If the Lite Spoiler people feel very strongly that no white font should be in Lite, I don't have a problem reflecting that in the poll and removing shit. I don't think your proposed change works well for the original reasons I brought this issue up.
Can we add that as an option, just to make it more explicit?
A: Hard-core, no whitefont, read at your own risk
B: As is (whatever that is - I'm not really clear on that.)
le nubian, just so you know, two people have expressed complete objection to mixing types of spoilers (Wolfram & Jon, like in an all white font, or mixed bag) thread. A third objected to the mixing it all in white font, but liked what brenda proposed (that was Deena, and I then just dubbed it 'mixed bag' to set it apart, but it was brenda's idea). Other people also posted in a way that indicated they'd like a mixed bag thread. An awful lot of people won't join in the discussion, here, at all, and will only speak with their votes. It's your ballot and your call, but I'd put mixed bag back on the ballot. If most Buffistas feel like Wolfram, "lite" will win, and the other kinds of threads will be a non-issue, anyhow.

This is exactly my issue. And why I suggested previously to take the word Lite out of the title, so that we people without a Lite thread don't get moratoriumed or stuck with a thread none of us end up using. And also why I suggested previously that Cindy add a spoiler whitefont only option without the sharing of the Lite thread.
I just can't say stuff half as well as Deena.

Ah, I see what you did there. Thanks.
But I think there should be separate votes on a Lite thread and a whitefont thread rather than making them either one or the other. It's almost like voting for either a Lost thread or an O.C. thread.
Other people also posted in a way that indicated they'd like a mixed bag thread.
Cindy, I saw a lot of folks who said they thought a mixed bag thread sounded like a nice compromise for the people who wanted a lite thread and the people who wanted a whitefont thread. And heck if I had no dog in this race, I'd vote for the thing that I thought satisfied the most folks (like a mixed bag thread.) But honestly, I didn't see a lot of folks all that enthusiastic about actually using a mixed-bag thread. I think we have a lot of good-hearted folks who'd rather compromise than get what they'd really want, or more importantly, really use.

Cindy, most Buffistas will read the ballot and try and determine what's fairest to the most amount of people (which is how it should be.) Since many of them won't have read the discussions, it's important that the items presented in the ballot accurately reflect what people actually want and are going to use.

"Lite" is only in for the actual lite thread. 2A IS a lite thread, traditional, taken from Deena's definition, as you copied and pasted it, for me.
As for your other suggestion with white font with labels, I saw no call for it, from people who would use it, Wolfram. You and Jon were both on record as saying you wouldn't use anything other than a traditional lite thread (which is already one part of the proposal).
As for your other suggestion with white font with labels, I saw no call for it, from people who would use it, Wolfram.
Now I'm confused. Isn't the whole purpose of the whitefont with labels for people, like ita and Lisah, who want to be spoiled for some shows and spoiler free for others?
Wolfram, I have no problem with you making sure the kind of thread you'd like to see (lite) is on this ballot. And it is on the ballot. I am going to be extremely blunt here. Now it seems like you're trying to remove any other thread that might beat it out. I'm not playing this game.
