Voting Discussion: We're Screwing In Light Bulbs AIFG!

We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!

How are you me? You need to stop that. Only I can be me. ~Kara

rather compromise than get what they'd really want, or more importantly, really use.

I liked Brenda's suggestion because it is a compromise. I'd try to use it. First time I got spoiled for something that I didn't want to know, though, I wouldn't use it again. That's not to say someone else wouldn't use it, or two someones, and as long as it serves the most people, I'm fine with it.

As it stands, I honestly don't know what to vote for, or if I'll just vote no preference all across the board and let people who previously used the lite thread more than I did, or who would really like or dislike a mixed bag thread make the choice.

I don't think Wolfram is trying to remove all competition, I think he's saying the ballot, as it was previously written, seemed slanted toward a particular outcome.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Okay, I'm still inclined to go with the amended ballot here:

But I am going to do some slight wording changes (e.g. a "should" needs to be a "would").

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Whatever is decided, I won't be able to get a ballot up until sometime tomorrow. I'm heading out in a few minutes and will be far away from my computer until late tonight (at which point I plan to go straight to bed).

Cindy, this is exactly what I'm saying. But I recognize that it's getting tiresome, so I'm done.

I haven't heard anyone else saying they need or want a Sometime Slut accomodation.

I'm one of the Sometime Sluts (or, SomeShows Slut, I guess), I just haven't weighed in .. figured I'd see just be quiet and vote. Actually, I didn't think my preference would end up on the ballot. Go figure.

My preferences are basically the same as ita and lisah's, I guess, so I won't be long with explanations. But, I don't do the hardcore no-whitefont thread because there are things in there my eyes don't want to see. I would totally use a thread where I could pick and choose what to reveal and would love it if that included the option for hardcore spoilage.

Having said that, I think I see your point, Wolfram. There seems to be consensus for two (but no more than that) general spoiler threads. One of those slots is occupied by hardcore already - the types of spoilers aren't up for debate (because anything goes), just whether they'll be whitefonted. The second spoiler thread used to be Lite. But rather than just a straight up or down vote on reinstatement of Lite, there's now a hybrid on the scene vying for the slot.

(I actually don't think that's a bad thing, but I can see where it would grate if I had been a regular denizen of a thread that was up for reinstatement and morphing all in one shot ... when I thought it really should just be up for reinstatement, no competition from a hybrid).

Or, I'm completely misinterpreting, in which case, as usual, just ignore.

so I'm done

I have such the timing, don't I?

JenP, you've got it exactly right.

(And this post is getting married! Wooohoooo!)

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I also thought that was a particularly cogent summary, Jen. I think your timing was fine.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

After reading the discussion, I have concluded that I have no opinion on this matter, and will be voting my first full no-preference (but let's settle the issue) ballot ever. I feel that this is momentous, and that I should note the event, since it is unlikely that I will ever not have an opinion ever again.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Jon,

I need to edit some wording so I'll repost tomorrow.
