Voting Discussion: We're Screwing In Light Bulbs AIFG!
We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!
An all white font all the time labeled thread could be fun with creative use of the spoiler font, but I don't know how long it would be before the novelty wore off.
For the record, I'm not in need of novelty or fun. In fact, the thread I was envisioning would look much like:
[Charmed casting]
Julian McMahon is guest starring in a three episode arc where Cole returns as a mortal, attending medical school.
[ita's charmed casting spoiler]
Oh, please. Are they gonna make him a plastic surgeon?
Nothing cutesy, just information and discussion.
it sounds like the situation that fits the most needs is one hardcore no-whitefont thread, one all whitefont and labeled as to showand spoiler type.
I vote for this, with the addendum that the second whitefonted thread would be the place for unwhitefonted lite spoilers.
I know that this won't please everybody, but really, we could add 15 threads and not please everybody. This seems like the best compromise.
we could add 15 threads and not please everybody
Then we add 16. Where's your spirit of world domination?

Who are you, and what have you done with ita?
Where's your spirit of world domination?
Oh, wait. You're ita.
I'm getting a sense that we're trying to please the most people with one thread. Jon and I (and I don't know how many others) are not going to use a Lite thread that has hard core spoilers in white font. Part of the charm of Lite was that TV guide type spoilers were whitefonted, as were some casting spoilers, making it "safe" to read the whitefont even if a little dangerous. But if someone put a hard core nugget under there, he/she was quickly told to remove it to spoilers.
So I'm happy to vote for a spoiler whitefont thread if there's a demand for it, but I'd rather it wasn't called a Lite thread. Because it seems to me that the thread is really directed to people who want to to be totally spoiled for some shows and not others, and not for people who are just looking to discuss Lite spoilers. And I'd rather the Lite thread issue went unvoted on and unmoratoriumed, than repurposed, moratoriumed and, in my opinion, rendered useless.
I'm not going to vote for it, whatever it's called, not just because I wouldn't use it, but because I think it's bad form to have the same information posted in two different places (one whitefonted, one not). It doesn't feel
right
to me.
You know, I'm willing to put the Lite issue to a vote with wording of your choosing if you feel strongly you'd like to see a Lite (as we recall Lite from months/years ago) thread.

Thanks for these, Wolfram. I wasn't sure how firm the first issue was, and I didn't realize that there was whitefonting of that nature. That clears up my vision of what Lite is/was intended to be, and I'm a lot clearer on where your objections are coming from.
Are we attempting too much in trying to combine non-mixy things?
Le Nub - first of all, thanks for taking one for the team. I've been there, so I know it isn't nearly as much fun as it looks.

I'd suggest Deena's earlier recommendation:
Defining the light spoiler thread to be added, if it passes, as guest stars, episode titles, authors, and preview speculation in regular font, with exiting cast, tv guide and other entertainment articles and their discussion white-fonted. This would be a general thread, like the general spoilers thread.

I would vote for that, even though I probably wouldn't much use it. I think the discussion of where whitefonted spoiler material goes or doesn't go should be tabled for more discussion at this point, or at least separated from the Lite conversation. I'd like to hash it out more fully since it seems like a really separate issue at this point.
