"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

You know, I'm willing to put the Lite issue to a vote with wording of your choosing if you feel strongly you'd like to see a Lite (as we recall Lite from months/years ago) thread.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Jon and I (and I don't know how many others) are not going to use a Lite thread that has hard core spoilers in white font.

Part of the charm of Lite was that TV guide type spoilers were whitefonted, as were some casting spoilers, making it "safe" to read the whitefont even if a little dangerous.

Thanks for these, Wolfram. I wasn't sure how firm the first issue was, and I didn't realize that there was whitefonting of that nature. That clears up my vision of what Lite is/was intended to be, and I'm a lot clearer on where your objections are coming from.

Are we attempting too much in trying to combine non-mixy things?

Le Nub - first of all, thanks for taking one for the team. I've been there, so I know it isn't nearly as much fun as it looks.

You know, I'm willing to put the Lite issue to a vote with wording of your choosing if you feel strongly you'd like to see a Lite (as we recall Lite from months/years ago) thread.

I'd suggest Deena's earlier recommendation:

Defining the light spoiler thread to be added, if it passes, as guest stars, episode titles, authors, and preview speculation in regular font, with exiting cast, tv guide and other entertainment articles and their discussion white-fonted. This would be a general thread, like the general spoilers thread.

I would vote for that, even though I probably wouldn't much use it. I think the discussion of where whitefonted spoiler material goes or doesn't go should be tabled for more discussion at this point, or at least separated from the Lite conversation. I'd like to hash it out more fully since it seems like a really separate issue at this point.

I think so. And I'm totally sympathetic to the needs of the whitefont spoiler crew. And I also see why it seems redundant to have hard core spoilers in plain view in one thread and whitefonted in another thread. And three general spoilers threads may be a bit much. And I don't know if there is a way to make everyone happy. And you can never use too many ands.

Our wings are not tired.

Sorry for the skimming, but am I correct that there seem to be 3 types of spoilage threads being discussed?

Ho Heaven - All the spoils and discussion in the open with no whitefont.

Whitefont World - Users can pick and choose their personal level of spoilage utilizing clear labels. All spoils allowed with proper warning and spoiler font.

Lite Land – Refuge where there is no risk of plot spoilage. For discussion of casting changes and low level general spoils and speculation.

While I have no personal fear of thread proliferation it does seem (to me) that 3 spoiler threads are too many. Personally I can see WW and LL being combined, but I am sympathetic to those who fear irreversible spoilage that can result from a font error.

There have been times when I was spoiled against my will, but fortunately never here. It has been from the grocery store line, CNN, or friends who thought I would want to be in the know. I don’t know how to make the threads all things to all people, but I suspect that most users will deal with whatever is decided.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I like Laura's taxonomy.

Also? I like Laura. Hi Laura!

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

How would people feel about the type of thing in Laura's Lite Land appearing, white fonted, in the main Lost thread or in Natter for other shows?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Speaking only for Natter, I don't think it should be there.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Personally, I'd feel fine about it, but I think that allowing "lite" spoilers in the NAFDA threads would be a pretty drastic change in culture. Traditionally, b.org has been a very spoiler-safe place. Now that we're post-Jossverse, I don't know how important that is anymore, but it's something to consider.
