Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!
Is it out of line if I ask if we move this to bureau? ita seemed to try to get us to scoot elsewhere, but the conversation was going pretty strongly, so I get why it didn't move, then.
If it's not out of line, I'd like to ask that for Aimee's sake, we move it, please. She's going to come back and need to draft a proposal, or at least review the arguments pro and con the politics thread.

I have a whole writing career built on the concept that the political and the cultural (even--and sometimes especially--the pop cultural) are by their very nature entwined.
I agree -- that's why I don't like the idea of a separate Politics thread. I worry that, within that thread, they will get de-twined and the long-term effect on our culture won't be pretty.

As I said, I think it's germane to the Politics Thread discussion. It wouldn't be the first time that a proposal in here sparked discussion which had a different outcome than just the proposed vote.
But I don't really have anything else to add. It feels right to think about b.org maintaining a pop culture focus, with thoughtful, snarky, funny and subversive discussion around that. Out of which grows the larger community.

I was just watching Andromeda while waiting for Stargate to start. Besides, it's not the first time it's been discussed in there, or in the threads from which Boxed Set was cobbled together.

Yeah, that's great...can we make it easier on the proposer and try to limit that? Lightbulb was opened to discuss the Politics thread proposal, let's try and get through that without getting too sidetracked.
