Can we puhpuhpuhplllleeeeaaase have people put a second choice on this ballot? I've reread all the comments since I broached the topic yesterday, and I haven't seen a post from a single person that thought it was too complicated or didn't understand it. Cindy had one question which was quickly answered and Deena had trouble because she anthropomorphizes numbers. The only other complaints were meta ("we talk about it too much" and "other people think it's complicated"). I read a bunch of posts from people who were for it.
I am not...I am not the damsel in distress. I am not some case. I have to work this. I've lived in a cave for 5 years in a world where they killed my kind like cattle. I am not going to be cut down by some monster flu. I am better than that. What a wonder...how very scared I am.

I'm just really gunshy at this moment, Jon, and think that waiting an extra three days isn't so bad. Especially because there are just the three choices, so it's not like we'd have to go 85 rounds of voting.

After a proposal, discussion and vote, further discussion on a given matter should be closed for:
3 months
4 months
6 months
No Preference
Please provide a second choice, should your first choice receive the least number of votes. This second choice will only be used if no first choice receives more than 50% of the votes. It will be used to resort the ballots of those whose first choice received the least number of votes. If you voted for one of the top two vote getters, your second choice will be ignored. It's like having an instant runoff.
3 months
4 months
6 months
No Preference
Note that this will apply to ALL decisions, affirmative and negative.

I realize I feel like PV makes sense and everything, but honestly, when I try to think about it, I get confused. Which is silly. But I get mixed up -- which votes get recounted? When? Why? Telling me to rank my choices is easy -- it's when I get into the nuts and bolts I start to feel like a retarded monkey.

God, I just engaged in obnoxious windbaggery again. What I mean is that if ithe people who have said on multiple occasions that preferential voting is ultra-alienating to them will stand aside just this once, I think it would be great, but we need to live with multi-ballot run-off this once, if they won't. And in either case we need to get the question of preferential voting in the queue as soon as possible.
