Another problem here is that, for those of us who are already spoiled, there is no way to know whether or not we would mind being spoiled before it happened. That is, if there were in fact some way to ask someone about whether they want to know "Valerie Harper is leaving Angel to do a spinoff" without spoiling them in the process of asking the question.

I only know about one BCS and not the other, and the one I know is the one the WB jumped the gun on, to Joss' expressed (ie. ME) regret. In the absence of that premature announciation, we might be waiting for this season's WB promos to learn that information (except for those on the spoiler circuit).

Like I've said, the short term effect for me is losing access to one thread for a month, so I don't think it is that big a deal. However, as a general policy, my preference would be for the existing policy.

But the whole thing is - we know there are people out there who would like (and through some miracle be able) to remain virgin-pure on these big spoilers. The question is, should that dictate the spoiler policy for the whole board?

At least that's how I see the issue. I don't absolutely care either way in terms of the outcome, but no argument is going to sway against voting for the change. Does that make sense?

If you're in the US, yes. I've tried, half-assedly, and it didn't work. Listening to Pin explain how he does it -- it's an effort, not the simplest outcome.

Outside the US, it's a different deal.

Fair enough, then. There aren't enough unAms on the board to dictate major policy (hence the way people are allowed to talk about promos even though it vexes me) - if this really is something that is difficult to avoid in the US, then by all means it should be something that can be discussed.

Okay, in all seriousness, why do you think the answer is no? What's frustrating about having to restrain Probably Obvious Spoiler talk to the Spoilers Lite topic? Since I personally don't find that frustrating at all.
