Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
The new mattress is somewhat uncomfortable, and I didn't sleep that great last night. But I think I'll adjust. Or buy a memory foam mattress topper. We'll see.
And then the dryer decided to die tonight. I'm not enjoying that one bit. (I can't fault it, though, because it came with the house when Tim bought it 21 years ago, so it's at least that old, and probably older. Well done, good and faithful dryer.) I'm glad it didn't die while I was doing a load of towels this morning. That would have sucked.
Look at how I'm not flipping out about this shit! Although I reserve the right to flip out later.

You've grown as a non-flippy person!
I'm still getting used to having my own washer and dryer. May your new dryer be awesome and affordable!
Took my niece to the airport today after a five day stay. She spent three years being my sister's primary caretaker during chemo and doctor appointments etc. as a full time nurse managing two clinics and a single mother of two.
She really needed a break and she soaked it all up. She was completely happy to get a coffee and sit in the Panhandle of GG Park and watch folks walk their dogs and people riding their combo/parenting bikes taking their kids to preschool.
Took her to Alembic last night and Emmett met us there and they just naturally vibed with each other. Lots of laughs and smiles.

Tim is insisting on calling the repair guy, but I think it's optimistic. That dryer is potentially 30 years old. I'm happy getting a new one.

I'm so glad it was a good visit!
Sheesh, it's 8:35 and it feels like I've been up for 19 hours.
(I have not. Maybe 12.)
I'm so glad it was a good visit!
I'm going to fly her out regular because it's good for both of us. Maybe quarterly.
Great to hear about your niece's visit and that it will be a regular thing.
I woke up with indigestion, what? That's new. Let's call it a one-off. Just took some Tums, and now I'm going.to wait it out.
Middle of the night indigestion sucks. Hope it settled down and you were able to sleep.
So good that you and your niece had the time together.
I should sleep in, but my mind won't stop with the travel details. Like I portioned out food baggies for the animals and put them in a bag for the car, but apparently it landed in another bag or box, and who knows which one. I just hope it isn't too far into the trunk. Sigh. Have to bundle up and dig through.
Ugh, what a pain, Laura, after all the luggage Tetris. Hope you found 'em and that you're off to a good start
Happy to report that I was asleep again in an hour. Did not want to get out of bed this morning, though, I tell you what.
I'm glad your niece's visit was a good one, Hec.
I haven’t used other things than Teams—what’s better? What is awful?
My department uses Slack, with a Zoom integration for video calls when requested. We feel the UX and customation options are far superior to Teams, and we have a much broader set of integrations available.
My niece got back home safely where it was apparently in the 20s in Georgia.
Matilda is back to school after being home sick for a couple days.
It's a glorious day in SF, and I'm about to get back to my running, which should have an uninterrupted stretch of days for a while.
Can't believe we're already in Thanksgiving planning mode.
