I got to see JenK yesterday for dinner. She was attending to her mom who had surgery up at UCSF, so we scampered off to Nopalito after.
She regaled me with all sea creatures she and Matt had seen on their scuba trip in Malaysia, including a Blue Ringed Octopus (very rare and very poisonous).
Matilda was hanging out with her friends Iris and Melia, who lives a few blocks away. Because of the proximity I let her stay later but when she walked home at midnight, I sat on the stoop awaiting her. It's a pretty safe neighborhood (USF is nearby so lots of college students still walking out late), but you're never really comfortable with your teenage daughter walking around after dark in the City.
I just couldn't resist the historical allure of "Robby like carrots." Sorry everyone :P I haven't had a human sweetie in so long that I can't share any tidbits myself. I am very sad to note that Casper the very floofy cat (no longer a kitten as of this month, he's past a year old now) is going through a very annoying teenager phase of "no don't hold me!!!" and literally putting his front paws on my face and pushing me away whenever I attempt to snuggle him the last couple of days. Breaks my heart a little, but Kazumi (void cat) made up for it by briefly getting on my blanket-covered lap last night and going to work kneading that lap blanket like it was the most important job in the world.
I'm waiting for Oppenheimer to be available via streaming, that's just too long for me to sit in a public place and not be able to get up and move around. Just got back from a weekend at OSF with mom and while I always enjoy a good theatrical endeavor, sitting still in the audience is still agony. I miss the days of being able to just ask the SM to watch from the booth with them so I could stand and pace.
Not really my style to flaunt the carrots, but I wouldn't mind coming back from a naughty weekend or something.ETA: Next time you see Jen, Hec, tell her I said Hi.
Casper changed his walnut sized feline mind as soon as I started a kitchen project. He saw mountains of cherries and jelly jars getting sterilized and immediately started climbing my legs and demanding to be held. In that way that cats have of demanding your full undivided attention only at time when you really need both hands and to not have fur floating around. Harumph. So of course he is getting All The Snuggles because passing up a snuggle-opportunity is a crime against nature.
Yay for kitty snuggles!
Delightful to hear you got to spend some time with JenK, Hec. Also, of course you waited on the stoop for Matilda!
Much love to both JenK and her mother. I'm glad she and Matt are continuing to have adventures.
I love hearing about Buffistas spending time together!
I’m home from mom’s overstuffed with food and in trouble for making Francesca cry when I put a timer on to get ready to go after asking her to put her shoes on at least five times.
My mom just had the Look of Death(my brother can imitate it, being the most likely recipient.)
When Ta-Nehesi Coates writes about The Look Of Not Playing, I wonder if it is the same face. (maybe not fully, but in intent, perhaps)
I call it the Death Glare. ltc is quite good at it.
