It's simple. I slap 'em around a bit, torture 'em, make their lives hell...Sure, the nice guys'll run away, but every now and then you'll find a prince like Spike who gets off on it.

Spike's Bitches 47: Someone Dangerous Could Get In

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Our wings are not tired.

I understand the angst and by god I am so seriously glad to just not be unhappy in a relationship this year. Last year V-day was so fraught with complication! We really needed to break up and he gave me an iPad. It was such a weird weekend in Boston - one day so cosy on the couch watching "Let Me In" and the next day tearing the meniscus in my right knee while we were walking to dinner (and him voicing I was just being lazy and trying to get out of walking....). Yeah, it was so complicated and messy and weird and sad.

And this year? Is awesome. We're friends, we have no expectations, and for Valentines I got a package from Powells bookshop. It's the autobiography of a famous boxing-trainer from South Philly. I laughed and laughed when I opened it.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

it's totally fake, but one day I want a romantic Valentine's.

I am still goofily in love with my husband and yet? Can't remember the last time I had a romantic Valentines. Or if I ever had even one. My man, he loves me more than the world, but he really angsts over gifts and so consequently doesn't give them very often. For a few years it bummed me out, but no longer. I'd rather have him.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

There are guys that like to talk about their feelings. Got one of those. But, when someone is mixed up or stressed, they can still come out all wrong. Sometimes it feels better not to say much.

Of course, I was at a wedding this weekend where I have full incidence in the bride and groom- they are going into this marriage with full and open hearts

move out and draw fire

My DH is in Cartagena. Yes, he's enjoying a tropical Carribean paradise in a gorgeous hotel on Valentine's Day, while I have a honey-do list a mile long and snow and ice still lingering.

He did send me flowers, but the cats nommed them.

And he's not really having any fun at all...but I'm still more annoying with Valentine's Day than usual.

My dad gives my mom the same (the exact same) card as he has since, um....well, at least 1967. Maybe earlier, I should ask. And it is a stupid, silly, lame card that he can give to her every year because that first she handed it back to him, laughing because she thought it was a joke.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

My DH is in Cartagena.

What?! Cartagena only exists in pirate movies. Tell him to look out for scallywags.

not your mom's socks.

Knowing R, he will come home with scallywags and scurvy.

Valentines was takeout Chinese and scrabble. But he let me win.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

I ordered my spouse a totally inappropriate gift for the LULZ and all.

Sadly, though it is SUPPOSED TO BE HERE TODAY, it does not appear to have arrived yet.

(But, you know, this has not stopped me from making ALL the Single Ladies jokes in the world, as it's a Lelo Gentleman's Ring. In purple.)

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Oh, yeah, LULZ. That's exactly what that's for.
