Everybody dies, Tracey. Someone's carrying a bullet for you right now, doesn't even know it. The trick is to die of old age before it finds you.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Wait, are you talking about aliens? Or an Earth species? If you're talking about, say, dolphins, and assuming dolphins are sentient and could consent to interspecies sex... then I don't know.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I don't think it should matter. Sentient and consenting is sentient and consenting.

I hope so. Otherwise the Smallville fic I've been reading lately takes on new overtones.

Yeah, that makes sense.

It seems part of the reason bestiality is considered immoral is that animals can't consent to sex with humans. Which is obviously not an issue with a sentient, consenting dolphin.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

"So long, and thanks for all the sex"?

I think the problem with dolphins is that they don't care so much about consent, really.

Damn, I left my smoothie in the car. And I'm too lazy to go get it before my three o'clock.

Huh. Googling "sentient and consenting" (with the quotes) comes up with 816 results, mostly sci-fi-related.

Now I'm thinking there should be a porn site called sentientandconsenting.com....

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

I agree with the sentient and consenting rule, but if a person is a shapeshifter, and their non-human form is not sentient, then it's bestiality. Sex in the beast form, that is.

My standards, they are high.

What if they gave you consent before they shifted into their non-sentient form?

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

But if you are both shapeshifters and have sex while you are both, say, wolves, that wouldn't be bestiality. I'd say.

I agree, bestiality does not apply when there is sentience for everyone involved (and communication of some sort - if you don't know the other party is sentient bestiality might still be an appropriate label).
