LoTR has the advantage of old-school crazies who speak Sindarin

That seems like a contest right there. Are you geekier if you speak Sindarin or if you speak Klingon?

The way things like Jedi have entered the mainstream, I think Star Wars should win.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Dana, yes. There's decades of crazy there (didn't people used to spraypaint "Frodo lives" in the subways? ...ah, thank you wikipedia [link] and there are the movies vs. books elements, and the languages. Though I guess Star Wars and Trekkies are ahead in terms of cosplay and conventions and such.

Twilight won, really? I feel like that's such a pop culture blip. Or am I just super hopeful that twenty years from now, we'll have forgotten about all that?

Didn't LotR fandom have the woman who was psychically married to one of the hobbits? (Or, rather, the actor who played one of the hobbits?)

As crazy as Twilight fandom seems, it's hard to top "psychically married to one of the actors."

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

I remember my junior high librarian having a "Frodo Lives" plaque above her office door. I had to ask her what it meant, since I didn't read LotR until high school.
