I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

mac is doing the last of his homework and I need to figure out what is for supper. We both took movie breaks. He watched Looney Tunes and I'm halfway through Chinatown.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Aww, mac. Cutiepants.

Storm here is mostly mellow. It was crazy snowing on the SO earlier in town (at higher elevation) but so far not too bad here. Will see what happens overnight.

Oh, attention, buffista canners! I am getting a pressure canner for my Christmas present. But I am a total novice! I have no idea how big of one I'll need, and I can't even supply what I hope to do. Because I don't know! These are the ones I'm looking at.

Also, what else will I need? I'm very excited. (crossposting to lj/dw).

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Burrell, the plaid's not as obvious here as it was on TV. He looks quite subtle and tasteful on the web.

Sharapova got some guff over her outfit choice. Link contains results of her match. It just doesn't look like tennis. Athletic wear, you know? I can dig going martial with it, like Roger and Serena have, but chiffon? Fer reals?

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

I know nothing of canning.

Band Candy is on Logo. I need some comfort tv tonight, and this should do nicely.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Good list, P-C. You might want to hold off on the Lawrey's chili seasonings packet until you see what kind of punch the pre-spiced crumbles and tomatoes give things.

Oh, I suppose that's a good point. But I want lots of spices!

Awww, that is really sweet of mac, msbelle.

I only know how to can without a pressure canner, I am sorry. But I think you want to make sure you have room for the size jar you generally use, and maybe 6 jars at a time? Can you use the pressure canner as a pressure cooker?

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Oh, I suppose that's a good point. But I want lots of spices!

Just taste it as you go, and add the spice mix in batches - pour some in, stir, let it cook a few minutes and taste, etc.

I've never used the crumbles but IME the tomatoes with peppers and the chili beans rarely add a lot of spice so you should still be able to go nuts with it.

There is a NYT columnist and author named Gina Kolata. And every time I see her name, I can't help singing "If you like Gina Kolata.... gettin' caught in the rain.". It is driving me crazy. I am highly suggestible with earworms-- in fact I could not figure out yesterday why I had "DO you know the way to San Jose" stuck in my head, but then I remembered that Kat posted about being in San Jose!/
