All right, I have chili supplies!
One (1) 12 oz box Smart Ground Mexican Style seasoned veggie protein crumbles
One (1) 15.5 oz Organics organic chili beans in sauce
One (1) 8.75 oz S&W Premium kidney beans
One (1) 14.5 oz Safeway diced tomatoes with green chilies in tomato juice
One (1) 1.48 oz packet Lawry's chili spices and seasonings
One (1) 0.65 lb white onion
One (1) 8 oz bag Lucerne sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
One (1) 12 oz bag Safeway oyster and soup crackers
Let's see if this works.
I know nothing of canning.
Band Candy is on Logo. I need some comfort tv tonight, and this should do nicely.
Good list, P-C. You might want to hold off on the Lawrey's chili seasonings packet until you see what kind of punch the pre-spiced crumbles and tomatoes give things.
Oh, I suppose that's a good point. But I want lots of spices!
Awww, that is really sweet of mac, msbelle.
I only know how to can without a pressure canner, I am sorry. But I think you want to make sure you have room for the size jar you generally use, and maybe 6 jars at a time? Can you use the pressure canner as a pressure cooker?

Just taste it as you go, and add the spice mix in batches - pour some in, stir, let it cook a few minutes and taste, etc.
I've never used the crumbles but IME the tomatoes with peppers and the chili beans rarely add a lot of spice so you should still be able to go nuts with it.
There is a NYT columnist and author named Gina Kolata. And every time I see her name, I can't help singing "If you like Gina Kolata.... gettin' caught in the rain.". It is driving me crazy. I am highly suggestible with earworms-- in fact I could not figure out yesterday why I had "DO you know the way to San Jose" stuck in my head, but then I remembered that Kat posted about being in San Jose!/

Man, then I'll feel like I'm REALLY COOKING.
I never thought of that, and I love Gina Kolata!
Anybody know how old this group of puppies is? Yes, I'm hooked again!
