I freakin' love The Roots.
Well they've got a song just for you, your lovely wife and the glam baby.

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

I looked it up and Jenny Lewis's YouTube is here. It's not Yo Gabba Gabba but it's freaking adorable.
Adorable! Thanks for sharing, Hec. DW has a huge crush on QuestLove - has for years now. What's not to love?
Questo is the bomb. He's the reason I started Tweeting.
Let's see - some stuff I haven't seen mentioned yet: Calexico, Franz Ferdinand, Santagold, Ladytron, Gorillaz, Kaiser Chiefs, Freezepop.
That's off the top of my had of stuff that's been in heavy rotation for me (or at least multiple select songs from each have been).
The new Arctic Monkeys is sticking with me in a way their others didn't.
This may or may not apply to Raq's quest, but if you wanna download one awesome song, try "Bullets" by tunng (from the Good Arrows album).
What are the things I should totally have listened to in the past 10 years?
Rise Against. Chicago punk band. One of my favorites.
Personally, I think people should listen to The Bouncing Souls whenever possible, though they've been around for more than the last ten years.
The Veils (who totally need to be on Vol. 2 of Hec's Louche Crooners mix; they're like a cross between Nick Cave and the Divine Comedy), My Chemical Romance, Duffy, Amy Winehouse, Okkervil River, The Mountain Goats, Ra Ra Riot, Sigur Ros, Laura Veirs.

More indie rock: Silver Jews - Tanglewood Numbers.
