Paste just had 50 albums of the last decade list: [link] (link from stereogum 'cause I'm lazy.)
Indie-heavy list, as expected. My fave among those are prolly Arcade Fire, The National, Flaming Lips, The Decemberists, Sigur Ros, and Libertines. Not on the list and (I think totally underrated) are my two favourite Manicunian bands -- Elbow and Doves.
Mika, Scissor Sisters, Pink Martini, Travis
Jay-Z
Kanye West (even though Kanye is RIDIC of late)
Green Day
John Legend (uneven but some real gems)
Yup, I love that. In fact, I watched it for the first time with you at megan_walker's!!!
One thing that will change once bf moves is having a lot more music in my life (again). Steve likes very few bands (our entire repertoire of overlap consists of Green Day, Radiohead, Bowie and the Roots), and really doesn't like folk music. He's also more likely to have the tv on than the stereo.
Oh, and how did I forget:
The Roots!
Mika, Scissor Sisters, Pink Martini, Travis
I just got back from driving Wallybee around, and was listening to both Scissor Sisters and Mika over the course of the (half-hour) journey. I was in that kind of mood.
I would personally put Kylie Minogue and Robbie Williams on the list, but I'm not sure if they're as accessible to American audiences.
Edit: Maybe some Goldfrapp too.
The Roots!
JZ just discovered the Roots on Yo Gabba Gabba and is loving them.
Incidentally, Weezer will also be on Gabba in the upcoming year.
Not a patch on R.E.M. doing "Shiny Happy Monsters" on Sesame Street but okay.
Did Rilo Kiley also do a Yo Gabba Gabba? I know I've seen an adorable YouTube of Jenny Lewis singing with kids.
I freakin' love The Roots. Also Erykah Badu!
Yup, I love that. In fact, I watched it for the first time with you at megan_walker's!!!
I stopped working just to listen to that again. Because it's just that awesome.
