Buffista Music 4: Needs More Cowbell!
There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.
What are the things I should totally have listened to in the past 10 years?
Rise Against. Chicago punk band. One of my favorites.
Personally, I think people should listen to The Bouncing Souls whenever possible, though they've been around for more than the last ten years.
The Veils (who totally need to be on Vol. 2 of Hec's Louche Crooners mix; they're like a cross between Nick Cave and the Divine Comedy), My Chemical Romance, Duffy, Amy Winehouse, Okkervil River, The Mountain Goats, Ra Ra Riot, Sigur Ros, Laura Veirs.

Duly noted!
Scary country: The Handsome Family; Will Oldham.
More indie rock: Silver Jews - Tanglewood Numbers.
Regina Specktor, Hannah Fury. (Mordant chanteuse)
Raveonettes and the Thermals.

I'd say the Abbey is more gothic, from those two photos anyway.

It's more ruined, for sure. Plus, you know - Byron! But Strawberry Hill was one of the very first Gothic Revival houses - a true folly. And Walpole did write a gothic classic.
Check out the library.
