No, it's shiny! I like to meet new people. They've all got stories...

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

No flippancy intended, but I am more likely to sleep with a guy than rely on him to set up a framework so I don't kill when I turn into a monster every month long after they've gone on with their lives. I totally agree with you, Amy.

Because books.

I swear to god, fic writers. Watch the fucking show! In this pre-series fic, the boys are hunting VAMPIRES and Sam has been wounded recently by a wendigo. When you're writing an otherwise faithful-to-canon pre-series fic, why make that choice? It's WRONG.

Argh.

The vampire things bugs me pretty much the most. And then one of those fic went on to kill them by staking, so I just signed off as "Buffy fan looking for a new home, but not looking hard..."

I also read a fic where they made a big deal, during the series, of Dean going to New Orleans for the first time. I actually had to leave a note for her...

I'm watching a minor drama unfurl on my dash (the thing I can handle about tumblr right now and not LJ, is that I don't know most of the people, so the sturm und drang is also point und larf).

Apparently Jensen is a homophobe, see? Because he's a Christian Republican who used the term unmanly. One time. My favourite comment so far is:

Good God, if he’s a homophobe he also must be remarkably dim, because I don’t even watch SPN and I know it’s gayer than Will and Grace.

Not least of all because whoever this is had to dip into the drama even though she knows jackshit about what's going on. Not that I disagree with her or anything--it just seems her point is as valid as any espoused by a fan because WHO THE FUCK KNOWS????

Because books.

You're a homophobe if you say unmanly? Seriously? As far as I can tell a lot of gay men are ... still men.

I saw that he also cancelled his appearance at the Paris con (he had Danneel send a tweet!), so I expected the drama to be about that.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

I'm so pleased Jensen acted quickly to put the word out, before the organizers had a chance to spin anything. I just found out the same outfit *never paid Jared* for his 2010 appearance. And from the wordage, I suspect the con organizers were lax and careless about security for the guests. I know Jensen can be a little paranoid about security, but he has reason. It only takes one more fan a little more unbalanced than the one who leapt *on* him as he passed a staircase *in the middle of his security people* at AsylumUK 1 to make him an ex-Jensen. Or a damaged Jensen. I like my Jensen safely in one piece. The whole thing stinks, and I'm glad they're both avoiding it.

As for being a homophobe Republican, that's his business. He has spoken rarely to not at all of his religious affiliation in the last five years, so I have no idea if he retains his childhood beliefs. But his compassion and generosity to his friends and his fans is evident. He does fan service by being physically affectionate with his co-workers, and using sly innuendo at cons. To me, as long as he doesn't attempt to promote his political or religious positions, I don't care if he sacrifices goats in his back yard. (Nah, man. That's Crue.)

I'm not sure how you work successfully in the industry as a homophobe, but I also think calling someone "unmanly" is not proof that you are one.

But Amy, you're neglecting to factor in the SOLEMN TRUTH that Christian Republicans are likely homophobes. How can you be so sloppy? And why doesn't my browser spell check think homophobe exists? Ah, idyllic world in which you live, Opera.

I'm (nominally) Christian, and I'm ... more conservative than a lot of people here, but not necessarily a Republican. And I'm not a homophobe! I'll show 'em!

I hate that assumption, although it's certainly not always wrong.
