I'm not sure how you work successfully in the industry as a homophobe, but I also think calling someone "unmanly" is not proof that you are one.
Supernatural 2: Why is it our job to save everybody?
[NAFDA]. This is where we talk about the CW series Supernatural! Anything that's aired in the US on TV (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though — if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.
But Amy, you're neglecting to factor in the SOLEMN TRUTH that Christian Republicans are likely homophobes. How can you be so sloppy? And why doesn't my browser spell check think homophobe exists? Ah, idyllic world in which you live, Opera.
I'm (nominally) Christian, and I'm ... more conservative than a lot of people here, but not necessarily a Republican. And I'm not a homophobe! I'll show 'em!
I hate that assumption, although it's certainly not always wrong.
I don't think that the statistics support making an assumption. The worse the assumption is, the more evidence you have to bring forth.
I just followed a link on io9 to a hotel in Boston that's a renovation of the old Charles Street Prison, and was sitting here thinking how they'd never done a prison episode until it hit me ... Folsom Prison Blues, duh. Someone come take my temperature.
I hate that assumption, although it's certainly not always wrong.
It's increasingly correct, but that's more due to the increasing radicalization of the GOP pushing out people who disagree, reducing the former big tent party to an individual camping size tent of one.
Certainly, it depends on a number of factors, including geographic area. The vote on marriage rights in Washington State included support from Christian Republicans, for example. (I may possibly have sent pleading letters to one of them. Maybe.)
And in general, not in specifics, Republican-associated Christians from Texas tend to hold beliefs that I find to be repugnant, which is why I ain't bovvered by the fact that Paul's aunt disowned his (Christian) father and uncle for not being Christian enough, where Christian = Specifically Narrow Definition Held By Some Texas Baptist Churches.
But in terms of one person, living outside the sphere of Texas and not speaking publically about religion or politics, unmanly = homophobe = kind of a big stretch.
What bothers me most is the Christian part of the assumption. I know plenty of Christians who support gay rights.
The Republican party is just ... gross now. But I have no idea how you change it. It's a giant, lumbering, bullying monster.
Is this the article in question, ita? It says Misha wasn't happy with the dialog, either.
I hate people. Nobody can say anything anymore without having it vetted first.
What bothers me most is the Christian part of the assumption. I know plenty of Christians who support gay rights.
Oh, totally. Also, this is reminding me that I miss you. We need to be on the same coast so we can have conversations with booze and hand gestures and shorthand!
Because I can booze and hand gesture this topic, oh yes. Happens most family gatherings, in fact.
I would like to be on that coast very soon, if I can. I would also like some booze, very much.
But not enough for another hangover.
