Because books.

The things you learn. I just looked up Jeff Kober on IMdB (I couldn't remember his name, and Folsom Prison Blues is on) and realized where fanfic author Dodger Winslow got her name -- that was his character's name on China Beach. Huh.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I knew Dodger Winslow sounded familiar for some reason.

Why does SPN have two kink memes? Are we that dirty? Or does the blindfold kink meme that just resurfaced take precedence? Do other fandoms have this much kink?

Because books.

Isn't one of the kink memes out there multifandom? Or maybe that's the kink bingo.

There are at least two SPN devoted ones. I can't link from work, but there's an SPN kink meme community and I just saw mention of a blindfold SPN kink meme the other day that just exploded with requests.

And, really, reminds me of how terribly terribly vanilla I remain. Wowsa.

Because books.

I always try to remember this is the deepest I've ever dived into fic -- with Buffy I only ever read a handful of linked stories. So to find whole comms dedicated to, say, the Winchesters going down on girls! Or gender-switching! Or threesomes! Kind of surprising.

And yeah, you and me both on the vanilla. As much porn as I've written in fic, there's no way I could ever sign up for kink bingo because I could never write for half the squares/kinks listed.

Then I remember the good old days when writing a het blow job in romance was daring, and I sigh.

I can't even read most of the prompts. I know, live and let lust, it's just fantasy, but PEOPLE. WHAT IS IN YOUR HEAD? PLEASE LET IT STAY FANTASY.

My problem is, you want to do that in the privacy of your own home? Good for you! But ... Dean would never do that! And Sam would never do that!

And then I get squicked and a little irked, and then I have to laugh at myself because they're fictional characters in the first place, and safe sane and consensual and all that, but still.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Do other fandoms have this much kink?

I'd say at its peak in March, Winter Games fandom had more. They had to branch the original meme out by sport.

To be fair, they had the Weir and the Ohno.

Oh Em Gee.

They are fictional, but...no, I need to back off judging. If it's not actually happening it's okay. I will just look at people funny from the privacy of my own computer.

...all my words have been taken by my work. - Mala

The kink memes strike me as straight up porn and carry with them all the problematic issues that exist with any type of porn.

I am intrigued about whether fandom feels these memes are fundamentally different from any other types of porn?
