I did not.
First, they turfed Sam for no good reason, and secondly they made Dean too clueless in toddler raising. Dude, he totally knows how to fake normal for a toddler on the road. It's his
thing.
But I've been very disappointed with the big bang so far, especially from a D/C perspective. I hope the RPF and Wincest people are having a better time. At least D/C has their own big bang coming up. I will be going back and trying more of the gen and het stuff, but most of those summaries didn't grab me.
I agree about Sam. That was really disappointing. I think I appreciated the post-apocalypic aspect as I'm a fan of dark fic but I have to agree Dean would have been much better at dealing with a toddler than portrayed.
It takes some doing to convince me that Castiel would be the go to parenting figure for a toddler. And the author didn't quite pull that off. The D/C stuff itself was nice, though.
Also, some of the post-apocalyptic details confused me. The technology fail, for instance--no internet, specific mention of crippled cell towers, but they communicate effortlessly by cell the whole time? Kinda random.
My favourite big bang story so far is probably the one by maychorian (sp?) where Castiel possesses Jimmy Novak early and finds the Winchesters while they're still young. I didn't love it, but thought it was sweet. Odd that she was remixing herself, but I will go back and read what she's redoing.
I haven't read much and I too have been disappointed in what I've read. I think that the apocalypse fic was riddled with holes. Satellite phones working - WTF? Who's keeping them running? But hey post-apocalyptic dystopian world - yay!
I was charmed by the D/C stuff too.
Red Beans and Rice. And a sequel, Lasagne.
If you like kidfic, and you're up for age-regression, you might want to check out her multichap Under a Haystack and its timestamps. She's who wrote The One How Dean Got His Knife (Epiphany).
They're older, so most of you have probably read them. Also, pre-Castiel. Still good, though.
Oh, man. Now I want age-regressed Castiel. A five-year-old drowning in a trench coat.
Oh, god, I was just reading 2-year old Castiel last night. I'll see if I can find it for you when I get home.
I'm not into random kids (or even Winchester spawn), but I do adore age regression.
Anything within diaper-wearing age is a little weird for me, but I'll try it!
He's an angel. I'm pretty sure there's no pooping. Actually, the fic made no sense at all, but the visuals were really cute. I hope it's still in my browser history. Will look this evening.
