A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
when they got Teal'c for an episode on SGA, all they could think of to do was put him in a cage-match with Ronon
Not that I don't appreciate excellent manflesh battling it out--but when that's all you can do with them because there hasn't been anything interesting written for a PoC to do that Chris Judge didn't write for himself...well, it takes the shine off the shallow appreciation.
Everything I've read about JMallozzi's response to the fanbase has made me dislike him and miss showrunners like Tim and John Rogers and even almost cranky Joss.
At least they backed off calling their black guy Psycho. Maybe they're capable of learning? Probably not complex lessons, and probably not in time.
He was so different. And good. But I totally can't see him kissing that crazy cafeteria girl, can you?
no, but it didn't really work for me with the current herrick either, to be honest.
I can see current Herrick tolerating it as a sign of how miniony she is. But Adrian Lester's Herrick would have her lick his boots to display same. It's not like our Herrick has that many women knocking down his door, really. And Lester can command a writhing harem of vampire babes.
I can see that as well, but it didn't ring true in a lot of places, like when Herrick is leaving to meet Mitchell, and everyone is cheering him on, and he stops to kiss her. didn't work for me. It would have worked better if she'd done something subservient, like put on his coat or something.

I thought it was just me, misunderstanding something. It made me kind of step back from the story for a moment, wondering, "who is SHE, now? isn't she just Cafeteria Girl?" It made her look like more than a disposable concubine/minion, which is what I think she really was.

I have to guess she's more than that, because she's plain, but why? It makes little sense.
Maybe she's explained in series 2.
She seemed very Renfieldish, but she's actually a vampire, so I don't know what the deal is supposed to be.

I don't think they're capable of learning, but I do think their worst excesses of bad taste can be held somewhat in check by network suits. Apparently so many people complained about the loaded issues in character descriptions and spoiler plot points that someone with real power at SciFi or MGM took notice and said "Fix this, NOW." I suspect TPTB at Bridge Studios will be resentful of getting their wrists slapped and passive aggressively whinge about their "vision" being tampered with, but hopefully people with an eye on the bottom line will be able to prevent the more glaring racist depictions and rapetastic clueless middle-aged white man fantasies.
I'm still astounded that the showrunners of the SG franchise are so bad about tokenism and cliches that I'm actually cheering for network interference from the people who brought us Mansquito.
Evidently there's not only a
Riverworld
series coming from Psiffy, but its producer is !Robert!Hewitt!Wolfe!!! and it's going to star Tahmoh Pennikett?! Am I the last to hear about this or something?
Isn't Tahmoh kinda busy?
::googles::
Nevermind. Miniseries, already finished. Also featuring Alan Cumming and Peter Wingfield. Why is IO9 citing 24 for Peter Wingfield? Silly rabbits.
