this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

(I'm waiting on an article right now, so I have some free time to troll the interpipes for Arrow stuff.)

What the hell, Stephen Amell is co-owner of a winery (Nocking Point Wines, of course) that has, among other wines, a wine called F*ck Cancer.

That's kind of awesome.

t edit Wait, I misread that; proceeds from their wine sales go to the F*ck Cancer charity. Still, that's pretty awesome.

I would drink the hell out of a wine called F*ck Cancer, though.

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

So maybe now Crazy Dr. Ivo will yank Slade's eye.

An eye for a hand!

I still think Oliver put an arrow through his eye though because that's more poetic. :)

You know, this is the first episode in a long while where I felt the stretch of the show being made on a CW budget. They tried to go so big on Amazo that I think the seams showed a bit. The pyrokientics on deck looked off and you could see the GCI. Plus, I love the action scenes on Arrow most for their creativity in hand-to-hand combats, so all the explosions and gun fights didn't do much for me -- that felt like standard action fare.

My favourite bit among the island scenes was Sara and Ollie's conversation while they prepared themselves for the battle. Oliver wants to be remembered for the man he's become, whereas Sara, whose transformation was wrought through murkier waters, wants to be remembered for who she used to be. I found that both fascinating and terribly sad.

That phone call between Ivo and his ex-wife was bizarre. If that's a set up for a future plotline, it was kinda clunkily done.

I totally agree, but I don't think the eyeball scene was random. I think it was fore-eyeball-shadowing.

Didn't it establish that she was sick? I assumed she's the reason he's doing Crazy Evil Mad Science -- that the Mirakuru would be to cure her.

(Having a sick wife -- *is* she his ex? I assumed she's either mentally ill or has had dementia as a result of whatever comic book illness she has, and doesn't remember they're married -- does not in ANY way make me sympathetic to Crazy Dr. Ivo, though. Hell to the no.)

And since Slade had a travel pack of Mirakuru with him on the boat, I'm assuming that somehow it'll make its way to Ivo's wife.

(Everything I'm guessing about Ivo's wife is totally speculation and probable misunderstanding from what little we got on the show last night.)

Huh. I guess that wasn't made clear in the ep. It's possible they are still married and she just does not remember. And yeah, there has to be a link between Ivo's wife and her illness (which I still think was awkwardly inserted) and Slade being on board with Mirakuru. Who knows? Despite what Oliver has said, Ivo could be still alive! I mean, let's face it, everybody who Oliver said was dead turned up alive, except Robert (I guess he's like Uncle Ben on this show).

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

Considering Ivo was talking to his wife's doctor discussing medication and doses earlier in the episode, my guess is they were still married and she just doesn't remember him.

Danger is my middle name, only I spell it R. u. t. h. - Tina Belcher.

Doesn't remember him or is really, really pissed off at him.

::averting my eyes from what I assume is Arrow talk until I catch up on that::

Almost Human is really finding its voice, right? Fine episode this week. Good scifi, good mystery. I'm even interested in the father thing.

Being Human, otoh, seems to be consistently making the most boring possible narrative choices. So meh.

I'm a fan. On a crowded Monday night schedule I'll give it preferential treatment.

Yeah, the plot lines of the episodes themselves are kind of dull, or when they do bring up interesting questions, they tend to rapidly retreat from them. But I still thoroughly enjoy the Dorian and Kennex relationship and the world-building.

I thought this latest plot was pretty good.
