Remember that sex we were planning to have, ever again?

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I still think Oliver put an arrow through his eye though because that's more poetic.

I totally agree, but I don't think the eyeball scene was random. I think it was fore-eyeball-shadowing.

That phone call between Ivo and his ex-wife was bizarre. If that's a set up for a future plotline, it was kinda clunkily done.

Didn't it establish that she was sick? I assumed she's the reason he's doing Crazy Evil Mad Science -- that the Mirakuru would be to cure her.

(Having a sick wife -- *is* she his ex? I assumed she's either mentally ill or has had dementia as a result of whatever comic book illness she has, and doesn't remember they're married -- does not in ANY way make me sympathetic to Crazy Dr. Ivo, though. Hell to the no.)

And since Slade had a travel pack of Mirakuru with him on the boat, I'm assuming that somehow it'll make its way to Ivo's wife.

(Everything I'm guessing about Ivo's wife is totally speculation and probable misunderstanding from what little we got on the show last night.)

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

*is* she his ex?

Huh. I guess that wasn't made clear in the ep. It's possible they are still married and she just does not remember. And yeah, there has to be a link between Ivo's wife and her illness (which I still think was awkwardly inserted) and Slade being on board with Mirakuru. Who knows? Despite what Oliver has said, Ivo could be still alive! I mean, let's face it, everybody who Oliver said was dead turned up alive, except Robert (I guess he's like Uncle Ben on this show).

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

Considering Ivo was talking to his wife's doctor discussing medication and doses earlier in the episode, my guess is they were still married and she just doesn't remember him.

Danger is my middle name, only I spell it R. u. t. h. - Tina Belcher.

Doesn't remember him or is really, really pissed off at him.

::averting my eyes from what I assume is Arrow talk until I catch up on that::

Almost Human is really finding its voice, right? Fine episode this week. Good scifi, good mystery. I'm even interested in the father thing.

Being Human, otoh, seems to be consistently making the most boring possible narrative choices. So meh.

I'm a fan. On a crowded Monday night schedule I'll give it preferential treatment.

Yeah, the plot lines of the episodes themselves are kind of dull, or when they do bring up interesting questions, they tend to rapidly retreat from them. But I still thoroughly enjoy the Dorian and Kennex relationship and the world-building.

I thought this latest plot was pretty good.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I felt that the season ended very abruptly, but the world building is definitely growing on me. I hope it gets renewed.

That was a season finale? Huh.
