A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
And speaking of Amy Pond, the little girl who played the young Amelia is a cousin of Karen Gillan's, and she was excellent in the part.
Double-fun fact: They had never actually met! What a very odd first family encounter.
Enjoyed "The Eleventh Hour" immensely, even if I had to watch it fairly deep into the morning hours because of other commitments. (Thank you, DVR!) Matt Smith is fun, and I think he's going to be a great Doctor.
Amy Pond, however, is wonderful, and I'm terribly much looking forward to seeing how the damage the Doctor's unwitting did to her plays out. Because seriously? Amy's got issues. Big ones. And really, I'm kind of looking forward to that.
It was like all the best fairy tales, where there was a psychosexual semantic level to the whole thing which was both engaging and deeply, deeply disturbing.
Really liking Amy and willing to let Eleven grow on me. I had to make a mental shift from Nine to Ten, and then Ten became My Doctor.
Eleven is geeky and odd which is what I remember of the Doctor from twenty years ago. So I think I will grow to be fond of Eleven, it will just take a bit.
I don't like his looks. I guess after really digging Nine and Ten, it's not a surprise that that is one of my complaints. We'll see whether he grows on me.
I don't like his looks.
Well, he does have hair and a forehead that are disturbingly reminiscent of Dawson Leery.
Sorry folks, someone had to point it out.
Thank you, Frank! That is definitely part of the problem!
I checked back, and after kicking out the aliens at the end of Ep 1, the doctor gets signaled by the TARDIS that he's done.
When He goes back to it, it has regenerated, too, inside and out. There is now a Logo on the outside door that wasn't there before.
In the 3rd ep I got a good look at it and it says
"St. John's Hospital"
on it. I wonder what the significance is?
I've seen elsewhere that the logo is something that was on the original Hartnell TARDIS--it's for a medical charity that sends medical aid to emergency situations, and was a logo often seen on police boxes of the early '60s.
In the middle of episode 3 of Doctor Who:
I think that
hearing a Dalek say "WOULD YOU LIKE A CUP OF TEA?" is one of the funniest things I've heard lately.
[link] - cracktastic Farscape fanvid. i really need to do a series rewatch of this show.
Dana:
