I can see why Steph thought it was from the Colbert people though--he did have a Colbert/LotR crossover fic on his website.
I'm gonna pretend that she knows, in a gut-level way, that the Hobbit is in cahoots with the people behind the blackout and she is playing him to get more info.
That was actually my immediate thought. Because I, too, was yelling NOOOOOOOOO at the screen.
They've had some awesome hooks at the end of episodes, but this was definitely the best one.
Or the worst one. I've not made peace with it.
