Donovan Plans Meditation University
EDINBURGH, Scotland (AP) — Donovan, famous for '60s pop hits such as "Hurdy Gurdy Man" and "Mellow Yellow," has announced plans to open the Invincible Donovan University, where students will adhere to the principles of transcendental meditation.
"I know it sounds like an airy-fairy hippie dream to go on about '60s peace and love," said the 61-year-old singer, who was born Donovan Leitch in the Maryhill area of Glasgow. "But the world is ready for this now, it is clear this is the time."
He said the university will be located in either Glasgow or Edinburgh.
Donovan discovered transcendental meditation while visiting India and guru Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in 1968.
"The Maharishi told me during that 1968 visit that I should build a university in Edinburgh. I went to my room and drew a beautiful dome-shaped place of learning," he said Friday.
"I didn't know what to do because I couldn't do this on my own. But then I met David Lynch, who told me about the positive effects of TM in education. Although it's taken me 35 years, I will do what the Maharishi told me to do."

I'm curious how they came up with the 250 figure....

This website features a series of drawings made by children who were abducted by aliens for the alien purpose of creating a new race of alien/human hybrids.
The drawings show different aspects of the alien abduction phenomenon and include:
cruel medical procedures performed on children,
children boarding alien spacecraft with other aliens,
children playing with alien/hybrid children so the alien/hybrids can learn how to be human,
children being taken by aliens against their will, and
the types of aliens encountered by the abducted children.
The pictures were drawn by children who successfully resisted the aliens by using a "thought screen helmet" which blocks the telepathic control aliens have over humans.
The helmet is a leather hat lined with eight sheets of Velostat, an electrically conductive plastic used to prevent static electricity damage to electronic components. The girl in this photo has two other cloth hats lined with Velostat which she wears to school.
OMG, the poor girl has to wear a fancy tinfoil hat to school!
At least it looks somewhat like a normal hat. But still... I don't even want to imagine the taunting.
You know, one of the reasons that was given for teh meagre availability of women's hiking clothing was that women would just buy men's stuff regardless of label. I think I hope that there was some similar reasoning going on in those "occupational" costumes. Reduces the rage a little.

Yeah, it does kind of look like the boys' costumes are mostly unisex, but the girls' are skirted. If you were a costume maker, why make a girls' and boys' version when they haven't developed yet?
