Or if you are insistent that you want to vote on it sooner rather than later, propose changing the voting rules to allow you to discuss before the 6-month period is over.

I think the moritorium would only apply to a proposal for a thread that would encompass all of Network Drama. Any further division seems to me to be a different concept and a different proposal. Any further reshuffling after that would be different proposals. To try to say now that this is against the rules seems unfair to me. Maybe people would have voted differently on the Network Drama thread proposal if they had known that future proposals for different smaller buckets wouldn't be okay.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

If it's good enough for Boxed Set, why isn't it good enough for this?

How is it good enough for Boxed Set? Boxed Set has the clearest of definitions (I mean, if you skip the media fannish thing). It's not an "all what's left" thread like the one you propose.

To me sff is clearer than comedy or procedural, because of the way we've been working it trumps any other--comedy fantasy or procedural sci fi fall right into it.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Not speaking for Kat, but the issue I have is that (IMO) "quirky" isn't a refinement.

So if the "quirky" thread was redefined to include specific shows that wouldn't be in the Comedy or the Procedural bucket (maybe any other show from the poll that had 10 or more votes), would that make people feel better? And we could further vote to add new shows to it as the need arose?

Not even sure if a thread like that would pass, just trying to better understand what people's specific issues are.

Thank you, Jon. Quirky is just a nebulous adjective that does not work to reduce a Network Drama thread into a smaller drama thread.

To try to say now that this is against the rules seems unfair to me.

To try to pass a network drama thread with another name is against the rules and is unfair.

If there was something that distinguished it from the overall drama thread that just got voted down, sure. I'm just not seeing anything that does.

This is not the place to work out a proposal. If you want to vote on it or think it is worth working out, then second it and it can move to Lightbulbs for sorting out and debate and heated discussions.

As it stands SA made a proposal here: SA "Bureaucracy 4: Like Job. No, really, just like Job" Aug 19, 2007 7:06:23 pm PDT

Comedy isn't drama, so excluding Comedy from this newly proposed thread is irrelevant.

Excluding "Procedurals" is trickier. It's certainly less vague than "quirky", but I'm not sure if the line is white enough.

That still is a bit like "all other dramas" which is what was voted down. Someone upthread mentioned "Shows About Talking with Dead People" which wouldn't bug me at all as it is clearly not about a general drama thread. It has a clear purpose and a limited number of shows. But quirky drama, dramas we watch that aren't covered by a clear category, etc. are a rehash of what was voted down.
