If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

So Future!Sylar can go back.

Do we know that Sylar has Hiro's powers? Future!Hiro was shot, not Sylar-ed.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

I mean even if the timeline vanishes, future!Hiro went back to our time at least once. If that vanishes then the timeline never changes in the first place. So Future!Sylar can go back.

Temporal mechanics is haaarrrd! t /Future!Barbie

Gar's assuming Sylar gets all of Peter's powers.

Frankly, I don't think they're going to go there. It's too complicated.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

Note that he just threw away the presidency to go after Peter and Hiro. He knows about the time travel. Stopping any Hiro from going back in time took priority.

He went after Peter, not Hiro. He sent Matt after Hiro and went after Peter himself. He changed in the hallway, and I believe that Matt saw him. He was pissed about being blamed for the explosion and went after Peter for that.

Mr. Scola’s wardrobe by Botany 500

He was pissed about being blamed for the explosion and went after Peter for that.

Plus, if he does manage to absorb Peter's powers, he would be basically unstoppable. He wouldn't need to be President any more.

true, but it's hard to control an entire world by force. it would be easier to do what he could as president, and if that didn't work, take it by force and return to being president when you're done.

What is even happening?

when Mohinder did the dramatic thing and cut the strings where Sylar killed Claire and the whole structure collapsed all I could think was how they lost all that organization, how would thhey ever figure out what was going on!

I know!! (And supports my "Mohinder is an idiot no matter how pretty he is" theory.)

Yes! I've resisted Mohinder-crit up until now (well, except for when he failed to kill Sylar), but I may have yelled at my TV when he snipped the strings. That was just stupid.

I mean even if the timeline vanishes, future!Hiro went back to our time at least once. If that vanishes then the timeline never changes in the first place. So Future!Sylar can go back.
I don't think that ought to be able vanish -- that Future!Sylar ought to be able to time travel, at least not right now. Present!Hiro's power sort of controlled the Five-Years-Hence stuff happened last night. By poofing back to the present he effectively stopped it all. It was no longer happening.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

The magical world of LJ has clarified something else: when we meet Future Hiro in the first scene, he's just gotten back from giving Peter the message. That's why he's surprised that Peter saved Claire (aaaaalso, it now makes sense, with the latest comic, that Hiro would go back to give a message to PETER, of all people), and yet the future was still the same.

So you guys are confusing me with the timeline.

I love that this big pronouncement that so much of the beginning of the series was based on was based on false assumptions and, now, demonstrably wrong.

It's not wrong, though, right? Originally, Sylar did explode, and it's because he had Claire's powers that he was able to do that and live (he wouldn't have done it suicidally). Clearly, saving the cheerleader hasn't saved the world YET, but it will.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

We don't know that. It may have been Sylar, or it may have always been Peter--although I am more convinced by the "it used to be Sylar, but the timeline changed" POV

Right, because Peter got his dream after he saved the cheerleader.

Plus, the comic says so.
