I got my hair cut and I think it will be very cute. I say "will be" because the stylist had to flat iron it to get the lines straight so it is all limp now. Hopefully tomorrow when I do it, it'll look like Posh! It is v. v. short!
Ahhhhhh. May it be the first of many good haircuts this weekend.
Pictures!
Emmett got in Big Trouble tonight.
He has a pair of handcuffs he got at the magic shop with a trick release. They look real and are metal. I was reluctant to let him buy them, but allowed it after a big event that needed reward. He was explicitly told that these were never to go to school or aftercare.
Can you guess where this is going?
Yeah. I got all worked up to give him a talking to and he burst into tears before I hardly got started. So he's accepted his punishments and consequences and is quite contrite.
Oh well. He hasn't done anything bad in a long time. (Like, seriously, more than year.) But he has been getting sassy and back-talking, so it's almost good to have a reason to drop the hammer and remind him that he's accountable for his behavior.
Can you guess where this is going?
Same place as the nephlet having his pocketknife in the wrong place last year? Yeah...
Glad he's accepting his punishment. Sorry that it came up at all though.
Glad he's accepting his punishment.
Yeah, he's totally contrite and taking responsibility. I thought he'd be evasive and try to lawyer me.
Ack. I hate the talking to and tears stuff. Kids need to stop doing stupid stuff. It would make the parenting thing so much easier.
Lots of ~ma for Sean and S.
Well, it's Friday night and I can sleep in tomorrow and yet my body is demanding to go to bed. Stupid body.
Tomorrow I have a facial scheduled. GF wanted to get me a massage, but a facial sounded better to me. Maybe I'll get the hair chopped too.
Too tired. G'night all.

It's been so long since Emmett merited a punishment I had to remind myself how it's done and upgrade it for his age. And like his toddler years, the
idea
that he was getting punished was so much that it was almost incidental. He was "Yeah yeah yeah" as I ticked off the privileges lost, just wanting it to be over.
When I was done I went back into his room and said, "You know, I'm upset with what you did, but I always love you."
And he said, "You've told me that a hundred times for all the hundred mistakes I've made."
Which was actually nice, because he does know that.
(And he's made way more than 100 mistakes, but they were all bunched between 2 and 4.)
Most of the punishment stuff has to do with school. Why won't they just do the damn work!?! Now that Brendon has his driver's permit that means one more thing to take away. Whee! That's the big thing these days. Take the phone. Take the computer. Soon, take the keys. They're not bad kids. Just not motivated to do school work.
Really, going to fall asleep at the keyboard...
