Spike's Bitches 34: They're All Slime and Antlers

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I think that they are limiting their definition of slavery to slavery as it happened in the United States.

Even in the United States, it's not valid -- Native Americans were enslaved in this country too.

And from your link, Aimée, I'm reminded of Native American slavery, which doesn't have inherent dislocation either.

Which, naturally, has already been mentioned. Damn you, work, taking me away from valuable online conversations!

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

And let's not forget not being allowed to rent in White neighborhoods AND not given mortgages in Black neighborhoods, thus being forced into a lifetime of renting.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I get those bits of Jim Crow. I just don't get the slavery bits.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Maybe being forced into low paying, high labor jobs, or sharecropping? That would be as close as I could see. Sharecropping is closest.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

I need someone to spork someone for me.

juliana - you available for sporking?

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

juliana - you available for sporking?

Yo!

takes a shot of Fernet

Who needs sporking?

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Lemme! Lemme! I've had issues all day, and while I can't spork people here, I might be able to get away with it there.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

You can both spork.

It's my cow-orker. I normally get along with her quite well, but this week she's just been all in my business. Bugging me about my filing and telling me how I need to do it and how often I need to do it. And just now she bitched about me not cutting the gas checks on the first and waiting til the guys call me. Hey - they want the money, they'll call. They are all three diferent amounts. Every time I ask someone around here how much they are, no one knows. Regardless, my job. Not hers. She is not my boss. She can very well fuck off.

When she actually works a full 40 hours in one week, she can say something. Until then, she can shut her fat fucking trap.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

clasps silverplated spork, does triple sommersault across half the country, head dives toward asshat, plunging spork deep within her spleen.

Edited for correct gender pronoun.
