Oh, beej! That's terrifying. Toto and I are sending lots of good thoughts and ~ma.
Also? Hil is wise.
Hil is very wise, and I'm taking her advice. I'm curled up on the couch embroidering the label for the Quilt Pink! quilt. It's turning out great. I should have it done in a couple hours and will share pictures. I'm really pleased with how it's coming together.
ION, VM fans, was this week's episode worth downloading from iTunes?
vw, I think you can get it free somewhere. Maybe on the CW website. Supper is home, so I can't check now, but maybe P-C will wander by and fill you in.
I think it was worth buying if you can't get it free.
I am totally resisting that game, Lee. I just don't have time to recruit, so I'd just time out anyway.
Hil, what's EDS?
Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. The cause of my shoulder and knee problems and mitral valve prolapse. [link]
So I have a hair appointment tomorrow, and have decisions to make.
Question a) Keep the hair long, or chop it all off?
Question b) keep it dark brown with some red, or go back to red/auburn?
I could self-diagnose myself into that hypermobility category, but unless it comes with a cure for the bruising and joint aching, I'm not going to. I've made peace with the scars, and I love the preternaturally soft skin anyway.
Is the stretching in the first picture here abnormal?
See, this is the problem with the internet. I can find a whole bunch of pictures of what the "atypical EDS" scars look like [link] , but I can't find any pictures of "typical" scars for comparison.
(I have no idea why I'm suddenly investigating this. I think it's just that I've been getting a lot of cuts lately, and I'm trying to figure out why.)
Is the stretching in the first picture here abnormal?
I think so. (At least, when I was first diagnosed, and was going through the "Doesn't everybody's skin do that?" with a bunch of my classmates, most other peoples didn't stretch that far.)
unless it comes with a cure for the bruising and joint aching, I'm not going to
Basically, all they've got for treatment is pain meds, plus physical therapy to strengthen the muscles around the loose joints. Also, I got a very firm "Avoid contact sports and gymnastics" warning, which I largely ignored.
