I've been working on a song about the difference between analogy and metaphor.

I'm not asking you to polite to Zoe. I'm asking you to be polite to me and the other posters who feel like calling someone "subhuman" is a different and worse thing than criticizing their behavior.

Edited to add: I'm going to be away from the computer for a while; I'm not going to be ignoring any responding posts, just not here for a bit.

Speaking for myself, talking about "send hurricane Allyson to solve the problem" definitely sounds to me like bragging. That expression appeared in WX (the Incident was right before the first outage), and I remember that other people spoke up against it too.

I would go back and look for more recent posts that bothered me too, but it's late and I'm dizzy.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

I was using it to describe why I felt it was okay to say the things I said to her, Micole. I'm explaining how I felt, why I said what I said, because some folks want to know, and others seem to want to spank me, but they don't want me to say anything about what the spanking is all about, which ain't going to happen.

I'm not running away, I'm here to talk about why I did what I did, and I'd prefer to NOT lie about it. I felt it was okay to say what I said to Zoe, because I do not feel she is worthy of respect.

Scrappy explained that I took some choice away from the community by doing what I did, and because I actually do respect the community, I have to cop to it, and am not going to be able to kick Zoe, again, because I'm supposed to have Learned My Lesson.

And really, overall respect for the community is why I won't kick Zoe again. Though, my respect has been waning in recent times, I still have enough to want to explain myself, and to hear people out as to why they are upset with me.

Though, my respect has been waning in recent times,

Why? Because there are people who don't agree with you? Because people don't appreciate your vigilantism efforts? Because of the whole voting thing? Or for reasons totally unrelated to the above?

(Note to self: remember to de-escalate, remember to de-escalate).

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

Allyson, to me "subhuman" is an extremely loaded word. If you'd just said that Zoe had behaved in such a way as to not to deserve the respect and politeness ordinarily accorded to a Buffista, I wouldn't be having nearly as strong a reaction.

Reasons totally unrelated. I am aware that you're poking me, BTW. It doesn't actually hurt.

Our wings are not tired.

I understand your feelings Allyson, and I understand the community standards (I think). I appreciate that you have explained yourself and I appreciate that you have shown your respect for the community by agreeing to not kickbe rude to Zoe in the future.

Paul, I think Allyson explained the other day why she has more or less stopped posting here: Allyson "Bureaucracy 1: Like Kafka, Only Funnier" Apr 12, 2003 5:54:47 pm EDT

Never mind that was uncalled for.
